[Bug 227228] Re: screen resolution setup is not preserved between logins

2008-05-13 Thread Grant Ingram
O.k I've gone back to the Hardy version and the screen resolution is not
preserved between logins once again. The breakage occurs only after the
second and subsequent login, the first login worked just fine.

Well at the risk of a bug reporter of absolutely no value - it appears
to work now! I've no idea why it didn't immediately function but all
seems o.k. now.

I tried the deb (thanks very much for that) and the settings are still
not preserved between logins - even after rebooting the machine.

[Bug 227228] [NEW] [Hardy] screen resolution setup is not preserved between logins

2008-05-06 Thread Grant Ingram
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Having manually edited of xorg.conf to set Virtual as described in bug
#220563 on my system I find that the screen-resolution settings are not
preserved between different logins.

Go to System - Preferences - Screen Resolution and set up dual
monitors. This generally works once the manual bit of xorg.conf is set,
though it usually takes a couple of attempts to get everything the right
way around.

I expect the settings to be preserved between logins but in practice I
have to use the screen-resolution tool every login as the system
defaults to one monitor or cloned monitors.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

monitors.xml attached

I'm using the 32 bit intel version of Hardy - I'll have a go at applying
the patch and rebuilding it, though I've never built anything as big as
gnome before so I don't rate the chances of success very highly! Also
it won't be until tomorrow.

** Attachment added: monitors.xml file with the monitors correctly configured

[Bug 35689] Re: HP Deskjet 840C on Parallel Port Not Autodetected.

2006-04-15 Thread Grant Ingram
Note that the bug is that the printer is not autodetected, you can get it to
work by selecting things manually. (This is mentioned in the original report
:-))

What I did:

1. Check that the hplip-ppds package is installed at the above version. (It
is!)
2. System-Administration-Printing and delete the printer, then add a new
printer.
3. This results in 100% CPU usuage (according to the gnome system monitor) for
at about one minute.
4. The Add a Printer Window appears but again the printer is not autodetected.
5. I can get the printer working with the HPLIP driver if it's selected
manually.

[Bug 36489] Using the same icon for volume control and now playing is confusing.

2006-03-24 Thread Grant Ingram
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36489

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Using the same icon for volume control (top right of window) and now
playing (left column) on song list columns is confusing.

Especially as the icon is the standard GNOME Volume Control Icon as used
in the Volume Control Panel Applet.

I spent a few moments clicking on it wondering why I couldn't adjust the
volume, so it may confusing to novice users too.
