I'm experiencing the same problem. I've did upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 Beta, Netbook edition. When I start in normal Gnome Session, I get no window controls and menus on applications where these items appears on top bar of the new Netbook edition GUI. If I start in Gnome failsafe, everything works fine. [Bug 28949] Re: failed recording sound after gstreamer0.8-plugin is installed
I had the same issue. It was affecting Ekiga and gnome-sound-recorder. Removing gstreamer0.8 and installing gstreamer0.10 solved the problem. My machine is an Asus A7V8-X with an Athlon 2400 and the original onboard VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller.
