[Bug 1873625] [NEW] Mouse moves at the bottom right of the screen at log-in
Public bug reported: When I open a session, the mouse cursor moves at the bottom-right of the screen, at a fixed position. The coordinates are about (x:1730, y:970) on a 1920x1080 screen. When I close the session, the mouse goes again to this position. I am not sure if the issue really comes from mutter, or gdm, or other component. This behavior is specially annoying because your first action after log- in will probably consist in launching an application by clicking its icon at opposite position of the screen, in the top-left part of the launch bar. I used X11 more often lately and faced the same bug, so it is not actually a Wayland only problem. It seems the flash occurs only in the evening. I applied the procedure described there: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- shell/+bug/1751101/comments/7 I start Ubuntu 17.10 I start Firefox 58.0.2 I press F11 for more than 2 seconds I wait for 35 minutes I press on AltGr+PrintScreen+S just to be sure data is written on disk I wait for several seconds I reboot with AltGr+PrintScreen+B There is nothing in /var/crash/ I feel a bit frustrated after all that time spent trying to obtain the data you need. Daniel, you told it wasn't a good idea to ask you to reproduce the problem, but I still think this would be a good solution to get valuable data on your side. I understand this may expose a different bug, but with some chance, that other bug will be related to this one. At worst you could open another ticket with the data you collected and link the two tickets. Maybe you don't have time, or won't be able to reproduce the problem, so I can also wait for Ubuntu 18.04 and try to reproduce it again. [Bug 1749779] Re: System freeze when going back and forth fullscreen mode with Firefox
Because I did not want to leak any personal data in the crash files, I reinstalled an Ubuntu 17.10 on another hard drive to have a fresh generic installation and did the tests there before rebooting on my regular installation. There are two crash files, one for gnome-shell, the other one for XWayland. I put them in a zip file and, as it seemed big to me, I uploaded the file on my web server: http://mess.psydk.org/c18b_crash_firefox.zip Other observations: - I tested the problem with a X11 session, and I can reproduce it. - I tested the problem on Ubuntu 16.04 and I could not reproduce it. - I've been looking at Firefox source code, it calls gtk_window_fullscreen(). I wrote a program to repeatedly call that function but I cannot make it freeze. There is some specific X11 code in Firefox though that I did not integrate in my test program. Otherwise, are you able to reproduce the problem on your side? It seems quite easy to get. [Bug 1635376] Re: double-clicking on an executable created with gcc6 opens an error message
Executables are now linked with the -pie option, which lead to a file type that is nearly indistinguishable from a shared library. I learned that this is an expected consequence. The only difference is the presence of an 'interpreter' for executable files, but nothing forbids a .so to have an 'interpreter' too (for example the libc.so on my system has one): $ file plop.so: plop.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked $ file plop.ex: plop.ex: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32 In conclusion we should look into Nautilus to solve the issue (I closed the bug for gcc). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635376 Title: double-clicking on an executable created with gcc6 opens an error message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1635376/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

It seems to be a problem with a library called "cogl". There is some information there: http://askubuntu.com/questions/794529/amdgpu-pro-install-on-ubuntu-gnome-16-04-with-r9-285-and-rx-480 It looks like there is a mismatch between the OpenGL context version created and the shader version used. [Bug 1633732] [NEW] File operation popup and icon progress bar do not go away
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.10 x64 with Nautilus 3.20.3. I removed 11097 files three hours ago. Every time I open Nautilus now, a popup saying the operation completed is displayed. The launch icon also displays a progress bar. If I click on the icon with the white circle, the notification goes away. If I close Nautilus window the launch icon still shows the progressbar. If I open Nautilus again, the popup is shown again. A strange thing is that the progressbars do not show a perfect 100% completion, but the popup actually says 11097/11097 files were treated. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "nautilus notification popup and icon progressbar do not go away" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633732/+attachment/4761552/+files/nautilus-del-done-popup.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633732 Title: File operation popup and icon progress bar do not go away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1633732/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1629600] [NEW] Installed application from .deb does not appear unless Ubuntu is restarted
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 x64 and the installed version of gnome-software is 3.20.1 * I install a desktop application from a .deb package. Re: [Bug 96522] Re: [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV
Sorry but i've tried what you order me and it doesn't work. I got this when i try to start valgrind: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.logprogram arguments bash: erreur de syntaxe près du jeton `' inattendu Moreover, i'm now not able to reproduce the error ! The gnome-main-menu applet works ! (but it is only actually partially translated to french :/). Thanks for developping Ubuntu : o) 2007/3/27, Sebastien Bacher [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption. Could you try to get a valgrind log for it (you can follow the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)? ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV https://launchpad.net/bugs/96522 -- [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV https://launchpad.net/bugs/96522 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
