[Bug 1883516] Re: display is freezing randomly

2020-06-18 Thread Hermann Gregor
Dear Daniel,

thank you for your assistance, unfortunately I cannot run anything when the
display freezes. The system seems to run, since sound is playing, but the
display does not update at all. I have to make a hard reset by pushing the
power button for a while to get the system running again.
However, it did not happen for a while now. I try to keep my system up to date,
so maybe a kernel patch has fixed the issue. I will let you know if it happens
again and try to disable shell extensions then.

Best Regards,
Gregor

[Bug 958127] Re: Will not change size after having a puzzle solved

2018-11-29 Thread Hermann von Bargen
Hi, I had the same issue. Clean Ubuntu 18.0.4 install. Tetravex on first
initialization requested board size. Now stuck with 3x3 board.

I Managed to bypass this by changing a local file.

gnome-tetravex uses a -s (--size) {2-6} parameter to specify board size.

File changed:
${HOME}/.local/share/gnome-shell/application_state
#added size parameter which affect the startup from the menu.

NOTE: This entry WILL be overwritten with next game, using new board
size, but the change seems to 'stick'. Obviously the correct setting
file gets adjusted somewhere.

[Bug 615300] Re: Set and/or enable default Evolution signature as "Sent from Ubuntu"

2010-09-19 Thread Stephan Hermann
@Matthew,

we are old and long standing Ubuntu contributors,
and Ubuntu was never ever a community driven distro.

What we are is a commercial driven distro, which is developed by the
community.

Nothing more, nothing less. This is a good thing, as I as a community
developer can have a say to a company which needs to earn money.

Peace,

\sh

[Bug 570268] [NEW] Brasero crashes with file name starting with %

2010-04-26 Thread Hermann Kerr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Very similar to bug 307957. Brasero terminates when it encounters a
file name beginning with % (which came off a Windows Partition) claiming
there were duplicate files in the directory. Problem disappeared when I
rename the file to a name without the %. The code obviously was cleverly
written - plodding code would have worked better (I can say this from my
personal experience of 30+ years in software development) - I dare say
it is also the reason for bug 307957 as well.

OS: Ubuntu 9.10
Application: Brasero 2.28.2

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
Date: Mon Apr 26 08:53:24 2010
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/brasero

[Bug 269545] Re: Gtkprint applications print outside of top margin under intrepid x64 with HP printer

2008-09-17 Thread Stephan Hermann
Guys,

can you give us any hint on ia32-libs here?
If there is a missing 32bit lib which needs to be included, please tell me, I'm
just working on this beast, so I can fix this asap.

Thx,

[Bug 185563] Re: [hardy] seahorse agent doesn't work with gnupg smartcard readers

2008-09-07 Thread Stephan Hermann
well,

ok then...I wonder who came up with this description, but

* upstream is aware that seahorse is not mature enough to be a full fledged
replacement for gpg-agent
* upstream doesn't have the money to by a 15 euro gpg card reader
* their is no starting code for seahorse...and I wonder if we in ubuntu have
the men-power to work on that bug...

But I could be wrong and didn't read the upstream bug correctly.

even if this bug is either confirmed (which is in my eyes the correct
status with a higher prio then triaged, because we know already that
this doesn't work and is a missing feature) or triaged, it will rot a
long time from now.

Well, I just wonder what prio confirmed vs. triaged has

[Bug 185563] Re: [hardy] seahorse agent doesn't work with gnupg smartcard readers

2008-09-07 Thread Stephan Hermann
I wonder why the status is now "triaged" even if there are two people
confirming this mis-behaviour...

a) I don't understand the meaning of triaged and confirmed
b) I don't understand the meaning of triaged and confirmed

As the bug is even in gnome upstream, and we all know it's an upstream bug, and
yes it's confirmed...why not leaving this to confirmed, and don't touch it...
I understand the assignment to desktop team, but don't understand any status
change...

Andreas, please explain an old man your reason for this?

[Bug 227305] [NEW] Maximized windows jump to main screen on dual-head

2008-05-06 Thread Manuel Hermann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 8.04 (Upgraded from 7.10)
Metacity version: 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu4

What is expected:
When I start a program maximized on a dual-head and I point to the screen right
of the main screen, then the program's window should be opened maximized on the
right screen.

What happens:
When I start the program and move the mouse pointer to the right screen, the
window of the program flares up on it, but jumps immediately back to the main
screen.

When I start the program, move the mouse pointer to the right screen and
click on the desktop before the program is started, then the window
show's up on the right screen, but jumps back to the main screen when I
click on that window.

I can reproduce this behaviour e.g. with Epiphany. Just open Epiphany,
maximize it and close it. Then re-open it and move the mouse pointer as
described above.

[Bug 224583] [NEW] Epiphany jumps back to first screen on dual-head

2008-04-30 Thread Manuel Hermann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

1) Ubuntu 8.04
2) epiphany-browser 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu1
3) Epiphany should stay on the right screen on startup when my mouse pointer is
on the right screen.
4) Epihpany jumps back to the main screen, although showing up shortly on the
right screen.

I use dual-head. When I start Epiphany and move my mouse pointer to the
right screen without clicking on the desktop before Epiphany is started,
Epiphany flares up on the right screen and jumps immediately back to the
main screen. When I start Epihpany, move my mouse pointer to the right
screen and click on the desktop before Epihpany is started, Epiphany
shows up on the right screen, but jumps back to the main screen when I
click on Epihpany's window.

This happens only when Epiphany is started maximized and only on startup
of Epiphany. Everything works well when I move a running Epiphany
instance from the main to the right screen.

[Bug 89219] Switching back to an user account needs no password

2007-03-02 Thread Manuel Hermann
Public bug reported:

You can switch back to a logged in user account without entering the
password, if the user logged of using switch user.

Reproducable on 6.10:
1. Log in to an user account using GDM
2. Log out via switch user
3. Back in GDM hit and you're in

This seems to work only once: You cannot switch the user, hit
, switch the user and hit the three keys again.
Then you are asked for the password. To work again you have to log out
and log in again.

2006-04-06 Thread Manuel Hermann
Public bug reported:

Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Ehiphany doesn't authenticate via Kerberos, although I have a ticket.

/etc/krb5.conf is configured correctly as Kerberos authentication works
using ssh.

about:config -> network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris is set as well.

It worked with Breezy Badger, but since I upgraded to Dapper Drake it
doesn't work anymore.
