[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

2012-01-16 Thread Tim Hoffmann
I can confirm the bug in ubuntu 12.4 alpha (64bit) (xorg 1.10.4) on an Asus Eee
Slate ep121 Tablet with both the build in wacom digitizer and an usb intuos4 W
As pointed out the problem is not only a gimp (2.6.11) problem. I can generate
the lines with the jpen java Tablet library as well.
Since the touch input on the ep121 is currently difficult to get to work, the
wacom input is crutial for usability of the device.

Is there any definite confirmation that the bug is fixed in xorg 1.11 ?

[Bug 872461] [NEW] No fallback for progress display if the desktop environment does not have indicator support

2011-10-11 Thread Jan Hoffmann
Public bug reported:

If there is no indicator support in the desktop environment, there is no
fallback to a status icon. Additionally, the progress window is set to
not display in the pager.

In consequence the window disappears behind all other windows when using
GNOME Shell and there is no easy way to see that a progress is actually
going on and there is no notification when the progress is finished. As
the window is displayed neither in the Activities overview nor in the
Alt-Tab switcher, the only way to get to it is to move all windows to
another workspace.

A solution would be to remove the patch that hides the window from the
pager. This should not affect the Unity user interface, as the window is
displayed in the launcher anyway.

[Bug 859801] [NEW] Removing one of two installed display managers does not re-enable the remaining one

currently active one, the remaining one doesn't get enabled. Upon next boot, no

[Bug 852911] [NEW] Yelp always displays Unity user guide

2011-09-17 Thread Jan Hoffmann
Public bug reported:

Yelp displays the Unity user guide even on a system with only Gnome Shell
installed. Insted it should display the Unity guide in Unity sessions and the
Gnome guide in Gnome sessions. Currently the default page seems to be

Sadly I do not know how to get the current session in C, but for one of the

[Bug 646902] Re: Brasero crashes when trying to burn without an active GNOME session

2010-11-13 Thread Christian Hoffmann
I'm hitting this problem on a fully updated Kubuntu 10.10. Please see
the attached stack trace (with almost all debugging symbols).

Steps to reproduce:
  - open brasero
  - create a new cd (type doesn't matter, I chose data cd for simplicity)
  - add one or more files
  - click burn (loosely translated)
  - notice the segmention fault

Does the attached stack trace include all required information? I'm
happy to provide any further information for solving this bug.

Turns out the problem is already known and fixed at upstream [1].
I've successfully built a version of brasero based on the current ubuntu
sources (apt-get source brasero). After applying the mentioned [2] patch, the
problem no longer exists.

Hope this helps to release a fixed brasero package soon.

[Bug 603560] [NEW] F-Spot doesn't import video files

Currently, videos aren't imported in F-Spot. If someone doesn't know
about this, he may delete all the data on the camera and then find out

[Bug 321041] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with signal 5 in xkl_process_error()

2009-08-22 Thread Kimon Hoffmann
I'm experiencing the same problem since Jaunty, and in my case the crash
always linked to starting either Firefox or Thunderbird, although it
does not happen every time one of these applications is started (~3 out
of 5 times in Jaunty, ~1 out of 15 in Karmic Alpha 4).

This problem occurs on two systems, which are sort of similar concerning
their hardware and their software configuration, one being a desktop
computer with an Intel 945G chipset, the other one being a Netbook with
the Intel 945GSE chipset.

Attached you find the crash report as generated by apport. The relevant
excerpt from .xsession-errors always refers to the same error, as an
example here is the relevant excerpt associated with the crash recorded
in the attached file:

Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 14023 error_code 8 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
aborting...

[Bug 387070] Re: gcalctool calculates wrong

2009-06-15 Thread Hoffmann
There was an typo, the right function is Int(347 + (75.695 -
74.215)/0.02) = 420. (so the change is the plus-sign after 347). Sorry
for that.

But I broke the problem down to: 1.48/0.02 = 74 but Int(1.48/0.02) = 73,
still Int(74) = 74 (as I think it should be...)

Now I use Int(347 - (75.695 - 74.215)/0.02) = 420.
But if I do it without Int() it results in 75.695 - 74.215)/0.02 = 421.
I looked it up and the right channel would be 421. So where is the problem? If
I convert 421 to Int it results in 421, so the Int-function can't be the
problem as well...

[Bug 154375] Screenshot of active window doesn't work correctly

2007-10-19 Thread Jan Hoffmann
Public bug reported:

Taking a sreenshot with gnome-screenshot --interactive and selecting Grab
the current window and Include the window border doesn't work correctly.
When selecting 0 seconds as delay with enabled desktop effects, the screenshot
contains the whole desktop with the Take screenshot window faded out half.
This happens too with disabled desktop effects.
When selecting more than 0 seconds as delay with enabled desktop effects, the
screenshot contains only the active window, but without window border. Without
desktop effects and a delay higher than 0 seconds it works.

[Bug 154029] CD-Player has a ugly color, but works fine

2007-10-18 Thread Jan Hoffmann
Public bug reported:

The Gnome CD-Player has a ugly pink/purple striped color. This wasn't so
after my Ubuntu was fresh installed.

Screenshot: http://cms-db.de/gnome-cd.png

The program looks like this all times I start it. It works fine.
I've tested it without Desktop Effects, but it does still look ugly.

I have Version 2.18.0 of gnome-cd and Ubuntu 7.04.

[Bug 104693] Re: Feisty/Gnome: unmounting volumes on the desktop doesn't work

2007-04-22 Thread Hoffmann
As far as I can see, this happens _only_ with fixed media. Removable
media like cd-roms, dvd, usb sticks etc. can be unmounted with no
problems. But it would be nice to be able to unmount some partitions as
well.

[Bug 104693] Feisty/Gnome: unmounting volumes on the desktop doesn't work

2007-04-09 Thread Hoffmann
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since Feisty, Herd 5 (probably since Herd 4, but I can't remember),
unmounting ANY volume on the desktop gives me the following error:

/dev/your-favourite-volume-here mount disagrees with the fstab.

As I found out, this is exactly the same error message when trying to
unmount in a shell as non-root user. So, the error message should state
something like Only root wants to mount For the desktop it looks
like a permission problem? Perhaps udev/hal? I'm using gnome as wm.

[Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time

2006-08-11 Thread Wolfgang Hoffmann
That's good. It's still a problem for me on Dapper.

Just to let you know that, although the bug is pending for a long time
now, work on this still is appreciated :-)

[Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time

2006-05-29 Thread Wolfgang Hoffmann
Could you elaborate on that? http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/base
/ubuntu-desktop lists gamin as required. I installed a kubuntu daily
dapper-live-i386.iso of last week and have gamin installed by default,
showing the above bug.

I cannot tell what triggers it, I tried to reproduce but failed, it
happens randomly. I have neighter KMail nor Akregator running on this
system.

Besides the CPU load, filling up .xsession-errors is a serious problem,
mine is 114 MB right now.

[Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time

2006-05-29 Thread Wolfgang Hoffmann
I don't quite understand. Does the Ubuntu desktop team care only about
Ubuntu, not Kubuntu?

If you do a standard Kubuntu 6.06 install, you're hit by this bug. This
will concern many users, and should be a priority, I think. Otherwise
Kubuntu CDs will ship with this bug ...
