I have this issue too, In my case I don't have gnome-settings-daemon, but cursor be invisible sometimes on startup and I lost cursor theme too, but I heard that we go, ctrl+alt+f*, and return to gui(ctrl+alt+f7) mouse appear. using xubuntu 15.04.
