[Bug 2028853] [NEW] Window management - window size and state is not restored

2023-07-27 Thread Jan Schürmann
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 23.04
gnome-shell 44.2
X11

When maximizing a window like i.e. Nemo or Evolution and closing it, starting
the app again leads to an unmaximized window.
This behaviour is always the same within one session or after reboot.

Firefox (not snap! but .deb install) for instance just shows this behaviour
after a session restart/reboot.
Within the session it remembers the window size and state.

I expect that the window size of the last state before closing is restored
after starting the app again.
That was the normal behaviour until the upgrade to 23.04.

2017-10-11 Thread Jan Schürmann
Public bug reported:

after formatting a USB-Stick with gnome-disks, i mount it as a user in nemo but
the rights are only for root.
i can't change that with sudo chown or in nemo with root permissions.

how can i format a USB-Stick and use it?

i know that this wasn't a problem some time ago when i last used gnome-disks.
seems to be a new bug?!

i use 16.04.03 with all updates installed and the problem is with ext4

[Bug 1026254] Re: Open with on folders was removed, Ubuntu should consider patching back

2014-01-24 Thread Jan Schürmann
@Sebastien: Excuse me Sebastien but what you wrote is bull*** in my
eyes!!!

I don't know what users have tested the functionality of Ubuntu but most users
in the Windows-World and growing number of users in the Apple Universe use
right-click menus for exactly the reason of intuitive and fast workflow! that
has nothing to do with Power-User or such!
that is no statistic, that is my own experience on working with many different
user-types in my daily business!

and on the other hand is there really NO reason to completely remove
features (even if only ONE person is using it!) with the argument that
it confuses new users!! What does that mean?? I think in that case it
would be much smarter to disable the feature by default and let the so-
called Power-User enable it!

Again excuse my harsh words but i'm so upset about the changes in
Nautilus, on the Launcher dodge window feature and on the global-menu!!

I use Ubuntu only for 8 years but the recent changes are the wrong way i
think (for the first time)

[Bug 1119666] [NEW] mp3 ripping only works with custom settings

2013-02-08 Thread Jan Schürmann
Public bug reported:

I receive this error: Python (v2.7) requires to install plugins to
create media files of the following type: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) encoder.

when clicking on install it finds the gstreamer plugin but the install
button is greyed out.

I've already installed the ubuntu restricted extras package and still
receive this error message. I'm using Rhythmbox v2.97 with ubuntu 12.10.

changing the mp3 settings to custom setting makes the ripping work just fine.

on the right, there is no option for Slideshow.
i would like to add a blueprint for shotwell but Launchpad doesn't know how to

and i think this is a bit of a bug because if i have i.e. an event which is
more than one day and on some days there are only 1 or 2 pictures it doesn't
