[Bug 43962] Re: Hald won't start after latest updates

2006-05-11 Thread JasonNorwoodYoung
All working - thanks guys. Had a knock-on effect that gnome-panel is
starting as it should. Also file browsing was slow to start and that's
fixed too.

[Bug 43970] Failed to initialize hal in latest Dapper update

2006-05-10 Thread JasonNorwoodYoung
Public bug reported:

Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: hal

This bug started up after applying patches and rebooting this morning
(10 May 2006). On starting Gnome, the following error appears in a
window: Internal error/failed to initialize HAL! Rebooting doesn't
help.

Taskbar etc takes very long to load up after this. All hardware
including USB and CD seems to be working fine, but opening Nautilus
takes ages. Other tty's don't come up very fast either.

Seems similar to Bug #31517, which is marked as fixed.
