This bug is blocking https://bugs.launchpad.net/null/+bug/474906 , which
is intended to make xchat-gnome and xchat behave more like empathy,
closing to the messaging menu.

The attached patch for this and the attached patch for 474906 makes the
problem go away in xchat-gnome.

[Bug 147943] Re: [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login)

2011-01-26 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
I've also been able to hit this with openbox and xcompmgr or cairo-
compmgr, and only with gnome-panel. It may not be a gnome-panel bug, but
a common behavior in compositing managers that can be triggered by
gnome-panel.

[Bug 688671] [NEW] Indicator doesn't show new mail for exchange account

2010-12-10 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

New (unread) messages in an exchange account exist, but the messaging
menu shows '0' for the message count on the account, and the main
messaging-menu indicator icon doesn't indicate anything needing
attention.

A notify-old bubble does pop up when the mail comes in, but nothing
changes on the messaging menu.

[Bug 334809] Re: design problem? infinite wait for long queue

2010-11-27 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Patch for xchat-gnome to use append.

Question though for notify-osd developers: Is there any scenario where
appending ISN'T the right behavior? Is it a common case?

Since the normal behavior of upstream's notification-daemon is to add
another notification for each notification, it seems that appending as
the default would be the closest to normal behavior. In the odd case
where one wouldn't want append, maybe an opt-out hint (x-canonical-no-
append?) could be specified.

[Bug 682252] [NEW] Evince opens PDFs completely above screen, not listed in task-list or alt-tab

2010-11-27 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

The first time I open any PDF file, evince always opens completely above
the screen. The only way I can get at it is to hit alt-space to get a
window menu, then move the window down. Evince doesn't show up in the
task/window-list on the bottom of the screen, and can't be reached via
alt-tab.

Killing evince, and opening the PDF a second time displays it properly.

Deleting ~/.gnome2/evince didn't help.

Oddly enough, my font sizing issues dissapered as soon as I removed the

[Bug 632599] [NEW] Evince is unable to open external links, Permission denied

Re: [Bug 440865] Re: Visual notification for/correct user response to incoming voice calls and subscription requests not obvious

2010-09-01 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Maybe this would be better if there were 2 indicators... one to accept and
one to reject?

When a call's coming in, you don't want to waste time with multiple clicks,
looking for dialog boxes, etc. You should go indicator-accept call, and
start talking ASAP.

Note that you should see a broken lock in the bottom-left, but a
warning dialog akin to firefox/chrome's is very important to protect
sensitive information.

2010-06-07 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Importing certificates is a different bug,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epiphany-extensions/+bug/42476 .
epiphany/gecko is unrelated, as it's entirely obsolete, deprecated, and
unsupported, afaik.

I should also mention that there doesn't seem to be a way to import a CA.
Eg, one test I perform for xulrunner updates is:

 prompts for untrusted certificate
 2. go to http://www.cacert.org/certs/root.crt to import the certificate
 3. go to https://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=1 and verify the browser does

Re: [Bug 589877] Re: epiphany (webkit) does not verify SSL certificates

2010-06-07 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
It looks like newer epiphany uses the system-wide certificate pool in
/etc/ssl/certs, which (on my system) includes cacert.

It's still the case that this notification (for the bottom-left) is a tiny,
and insufficient warning that you're leaving a safe transmission medium.

[Bug 566726] [NEW] GDM disables monitor in Same image in all monitors mode

2010-04-19 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

GDM is set up to run both my monitors in Same image in all monitors
mode (confirmed with gnome-control-center in the gdm session). However,
my main monitor, an external display, turns off when gdm starts up. The
laptop screen is not normally usable, meaning gdm is largely
unaccessable.

Once a user logs, the Same image in all monitors mode works perfectly.
It's just gdm that gets it wrong, somehow.

2010-04-18 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Unless I'm mistaken, that's still the february 11th 2010 release,
which is 10.0.45.2. It's still considered a pre-release alpha
refresh version.

10.1 is still 32-bit only.

FWIW, I've had good luck with mozilla-plugin-gnash lately. It does
real 32bit and 64 bit support, and is a lot more stable. It's still
slower than adobe's, but it's improved a lot in the past couple years.

A few things related I've noticed about this issue.

1) While the lid is closed, the screen is actually left on, meaning it's
still drawing power. Makes this a little more severe, and explains why
my battery's been dying so much faster than I expected.

2) When the lid closure is triggered, I can see (by peering through a
slight crack) that the screen does turn off, then about half a second to
a second later turns back on, and the screen flickers.

3) When the lid is opened, the screen flickers once again.

[Bug 376793] Re: HP 2140 Lid Close Not Detected

Both sets of screen flickers take about a second to complete... so it's
very noticable. Not sure if the same thing occurs with other laptops.

[Bug 141142] Re: Buffering indicator in Totem

In what way is this fixed in 9.10? I'm watching videos here with totem-
mozilla with no buffering indicator. Do you have a test case that works?

Upstream suggests this was only implemented in totem after 9.10 was
released, and I certainly see this behavior in karmic. I'll reopen this
until we have some confirmation of what's going on.

[Bug 423107] Re: Dual Head - Panels on the wrong screen

2009-11-08 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
This really needs to be a preference. A lot of people like to use their
laptop screen as the primary monitor, and then use the VGA for a
projector display. Many people like to use a laptop at a desktop
workstation, in which case the external display should be primary,
because it's larger and better quality.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=562944 seems to be the
solution here.

[Bug 451651] [NEW] Notification icon doesn't survive changing of notification tray implementation

2009-10-14 Thread Jeremy Nickurak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

1) With gnome-panel running, open xchat-gnome and a number of other
applications. For simplicity sake, configure the xchat-gnome notification
plugin to be always visible.
2) Switch to gnome-shell
3) Observe
4) Close and run-run xchat-gnome
5) Switch back to regular gnome-panel
6) Observe

Expected behavior:
Like most other applications, like nm-applet and the ubuntu-one client,
xchat-gnome's notification icon should persist across changes in
notification-area providers.

Observed behavior:
Xchat-gnome's notification area icon dissapears. If xchat-gnome was hidden at
the time (by clicking on the icon), there is now no way to get it back, even
though it's still running.
