[Bug 1069757] Re: [Upstream] Libreoffice: problems with saving docs to directories of Windows networks (through samba-connection)

2013-04-04 Thread Jerome Warnier
I can add that it also happens on sFTP, not only on SMB connections to
servers.

And let me add that the version 4.0.2 from ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-4-0 for
Raring works.
I really hope 4.0.2 will do it into Raring.

[Bug 763894] Re: could not initialise Xv output

2012-05-08 Thread Jerome Warnier
Parole uses Xv output by default, but some drivers do not support it, or it is
not enabled.
Though, you might tell Parole not to use Xv at all, with its --xv false
command-line option. This setting is permanent, up to when you enable it back
using --xv true.

Reference:
http://gnubyexample.blogspot.com/2011/04/parole-media-player-xv-option-and.html

Hope it helps

[Bug 663188] Re: pictures renaming slower

2011-03-22 Thread Jerome Warnier
I could in the end test the 2.12 from PPA.
It does not improve the situation.
Reproducing is very easy: select many pictures at once, then press on F2 and
wait for minutes at 100% CPU for the dialog to appear. Then, the rename itself
is pretty fast.

I would say that it is reading every pictures, fully, several times each.
I'm at the moment testing with a set of 420 JPEG pictures in the 4-6MB range.

Honestly, this should be forwarded upstream.

I usually report them myself upstream, but in this case, as I had
already seen a change in Ubuntu (reverted to old behaviour in Lucid
Lynx), I was not sure anymore it was not a local Ubuntu diversion.

[Bug 663188] [NEW] pictures renaming slower

2010-10-19 Thread Jerome Warnier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

Early in the Lucid Lynx release process, the rename feature dialog of Gthumb
changed to a new one, which was vastly slower than the previous one.
In the very last days before Lucid's release, it was reverted back to the old
rename dialog.

The problem itself is that when you press on F2 (or click in the menu)
to start this feature on a set of selected files, it takes ages
(sometimes in minutes) for the dialog to come up, while it was
instantaneous on the same computers with Lucid's Gthumb.

I tested this on several computers, powerful or not, with different
kinds of storages (internal HDD, USB HDD, USB SD reader, ...) for the
pictures.

Now, Maverick (release) has the exact same problem, and that's annoying.

[Bug 595037] [NEW] Evolution fails to add a contact list to a LDAP server

2010-06-16 Thread Jerome Warnier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution cannot add a contact list to a (Open)LDAP server.
Adding the same contact list to a local addressbook works nicely.
While I guess this could be related with the schemas used on the LDAP server, I

[Bug 339169] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in strtoul()

2009-08-25 Thread Jerome Warnier
Using http://www.gnome.org/~sragavan/evolution-rebuild-summarydb stated that my
DB was corrupt:
$ ./evolution-rebuild-summarydb
Rebuilding Table ./local/folders.db
Rebuilding Table ./vfolder/folders.db
Rebuilding Table ./imap/jwarn...@mail.b.n/folders.db
SQL error: database disk image is malformed

I'm using IMAP, so all my e-mail is stored on the server. I then completely
deleted my local cache directory: ~/.evolution/mail/imap/jwarn...@mail.b.be/.
I started Evolution, which resynchronized all my e-mail and is working again.

Read my report: it occurs on both Dovecot and Courier IMAP servers on
Debian Etch, and does not occur on the same servers with Evolution from
Debian Etch or Sid.

Honestly, I cannot do much more than report something reproducible,
point out as closely as I can the conditions I tried to pinpoint the
problem.
This is clearly a Ubuntu Evolution bug.

Now that Gutsy is out, we will probably upgrade and see what happens,
but I would have expected more attention for such a bad bug. It is
already too late for us to really care about this problem.

The problem here is that it is fully reproducible, but only on Ubuntu. I
even personally use Debian (Etch and Sid), and the problem does not show
while accessing the same server(s).
So this seems to be Ubuntu-specific.

an IMAP server workaround that has recently broken perhaps? Might be
interesting to know which mail server the original bug reporter is

It was Courier IMAP (4.1.1.20060828-5 from Debian Etch), and is now
Dovecot (now 1.0.rc15-2etch) (it seemed like a good idea while trying to
solve the problem, but it did not).

[Bug 117896] Re: Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders

2007-06-20 Thread Jerome Warnier
Here is more info:

I've changed the IMAP server to Dovecot, and the exact same problem occurs, no
better, no worst.
I started Evolution with CAMEL_DEBUG=1, and when it occurs, I get the following
error message:
(evolution-2.10:8724): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id calledwith NULL
parameter.

(evolution-2.10:8724): camel-imap-provider-CRITICAL
**:imap_command_start: assertion `store-ostream!=NULL' failed

Here, we just sent a mail, and we lost the copy which was supposed to be
in the Sent folder (it was never filed).

Using Wireshark on the workstation, we could then see that no trafic was
gone to the server (using IMAP protocol) when the problem occurs, while
we could see connections when it does not fail to copy to Sent.

Please do not hesitate to ask for more information. If I need to go back
to the users, I will.

[Bug 117896] Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders

2007-05-31 Thread Jerome Warnier
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn, Evolution silently loses e-mails while moving
between IMAP folders (on the same server).
The server is a Debian Etch with Courier IMAP (4.1.1.20060828-5) on the LAN.

Problem is triggered even with filter rules, whenever they move e-mails
between folders.

Actually, moving between local and IMAP folders (I'm not sure I checked
in both directions, though) also triggers the problem.

On the same server, moving mails using various versions of Thunderbird
does not show the problem.

In my opinion, this problem is critical.

Thanks

[Bug 117896] Re: Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders

2007-05-31 Thread Jerome Warnier
Yes, it is fully reproducible, even if random. You cannot move 20 mails
without losing any, and sometimes even moving one at a time leads to
loss.

Maybe the problem is related to Courier IMAP, but other clients on the
same server, and even from the same client do not show this behaviour.
In case you may wonder, the configuration on this IMAP server is pretty
standard (for the version on Debian Etch).

Also, it is not specific to a particuliar computer, the problem shows on
at least 2 or 3 different ones (2 laptops and one workstation, all x86).

How could I help you to pinpoint or even just reproduce this?
