[Bug 1722353] Re: Screen blanking and/or screen lock crashes gnome-shell user session on wayland - Ubuntu 17.10 beta

2017-10-30 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Just retested a few times. EVERY time I turn of my monitor, the session
dies. Therefore I think my issue might be related to that my monitor has
an auto off function.

In dmesg I get the following every time it dies:
[108839.489217] gnome-shell[26345]: segfault at 38 ip 7f58e823ac30 sp
7fff55008b88 error 4 in libmutter-1.so.0.0.0[7f58e81e8000+141000]

Oh, I should mention that by "auto off function", I mean that it turns
completely off so I need to push the power button again. I am trying to
disable this now, and see how it goes leaving Ubuntu setting for turning
it off enabled.

Just experienced this after disabling the screen powerdown in power
settings, and then I just turned of my screen. However it didn't seem
like my session died before I turned the screen on again. At least thats
what I think since my 7z compressions I started before turning off the
monitor did finish.

[Bug 1722353] Re: Screen blanking and/or screen lock crashes gnome-shell user session on wayland - Ubuntu 17.10 beta

2017-10-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I had the same issue in an Intel integrated graphics card (Core
i3-2120T). My whole session would just die.

My system is in Danish, so I am unsure if it is the power saving option
mentioned by @emanuel-pirsch I have disabled, but I went to the power
settings and disabled the second option that translated says something
like "Dim monitor on inactivity". This makes no sense enabling on my
computer since it is a desktop system with an external monitor.

The result is that it seems to have helped.

It makes me wonder if there is some sort of hardware detection that has
a bug?

[Bug 872310] Re: gEdit crashes when press Ctrl + Space

2011-10-19 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
It's related to the snippet plugin. If I disable that plugin, it doesn't crash
anymore.
Upgrading to the version 3.2.1 in proposed updates breaks the use of this
plugin completely (It won't load).

[Bug 174809] Re: Nautilus using more and more memory (depending on the system up-time)

2010-12-30 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I can confirm the issue on 10.10 with nautilus elementary, but as far as
I remember I have had this issue for quite some time. at least the last
4 or 5 Ubuntu versions. Nautilus doesn't reclaim memory. This accounts
for both file transfers and thumbnails.

[Bug 449188] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't cause the screen to go blank

2010-02-19 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I have investigated further, and it seems like all my settings in gnome-
power-preferences are ignored when I boot my computer on battery power.

If I put my computer in suspend mode and resume it, everything seems to
start working. My display turns off when I close the lid, and further
more, my monitor dims after a short period of no use, which is another
issue I have (Does anyone know a bug number for this?).

Does anyone have similar issues?

[Bug 424283] Re: totem loses sound when seeking in mkv which has embedded mp3 layer

2010-01-05 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I can confirm the bug exactly as described. However my .mkv files have mpeg 1
layer 2 sound (stereo, 128 kbps, 48000 Hz). Video is H264.
When the file is .mp4 with video H.264 / AVC and sound MPEG-4 AAC audio,
there's no problem.

Also I have noticed that in order to thumbnail the troublesome videos, i
must sometimes delete the folder ~/.thumbnails/fail/.

Can I provide any further info for debugging?

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow

2008-12-29 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Have just installed Intrepid and applied the latest software upgrades.
With kernel 2.6.27-9 I get bad transfer rates (round 1000 kB/s), but
booting 2.6.27-7 I get normal rates ( 20 MB/s).

I think we can conclude it's a kernel issue. Don't you?

[Bug 29809] Window size (mayby placement) is not saved on logoff.

2006-01-30 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29809

Comment:
First of all: Must it be right after I log in?

Next: I have played a little with theese numbers, meaning: shut down
Gaim, changed the numbers and started it again. Result: it changes
size, but when I use the values that were there when I opened the file,
the windowssize of the Buddylist is as I want it.

By the way, there are more than one place with width and height prefs, so i
grabbed those from pref name='blist':
pref name='width' type='int' value='364' /
pref name='height' type='int' value='691' /

Now I remember it i think the problem started when I added an extra
harddrive to my fstab-file, but I don't have the slightest idea why.

I added following to have the folder Musik on my Desktop to be another drive:
# file system mount point type options
dump pass
/dev/hdc1 /home/beruic/Desktop/Musik ext3defaults0
1
