[Bug 1192020] Re: Nautilus' file copy dialog cannot be opened again after closing because it does not use the app indicator system

2014-04-19 Thread John Kuang
I just noticed that if you right click on the nautilus launcher icon
during a copy operation, 2 new actions in the quicklist will show up:
show copy dialog and cancel all in-progress actions. Not too sure
when this was implemented, but since this is an effective solution to
the problem, I've closed this bug report.

[Bug 394095] Re: doesn't deal correctly with renames outside of rhythmbox

2012-10-23 Thread John Kuang
Just checked in 12.10 with Rhythmbox 2.97. This bug is still present in
that Rhythmbox still does not handle a directory name change correctly.
The tracks are moved into Missing Files when a directory is renamed
using Nautilus, with Rhythmbox open. However, the metadata can be
recovered by renaming the directories back to their original names.

[Bug 394095] Re: doesn't deal correctly with renames outside of rhythmbox

2012-10-23 Thread John Kuang
Rhythmbox already watches for new music files. Perhaps it should watch
for removed files too, so the moment it detects the simultaneous removal
and adding of a track with the same filename, it should interpret that
as a directory change and just update the directory path in the
database, leaving all metadata intact.

Either that, or perhaps have a new Directory View in which you can
move tracks around and rename directories within Rhythmbox.

[Bug 620528] Re: mouse back button nautilus list

2010-11-08 Thread John Kuang
This annoying problem has around been since I've started using ubuntu
(gutsy), i.e. a LONG time. It is NOT device specific as I have
experienced this with many different mouses. I've been using a work
around to directly map the back button (alt_left) using xbindkeys. It
would be nice if I didnt have to though.

[Bug 393012] Re: smb: Error while copying file, Invalid argument

2010-11-02 Thread John Kuang
As noted in Bug #659854, this time in maverick, the problem appears only
when copying files greater than 48kb. This symptom was never mentioned
in Bug #393012. Could this be a different bug altogether?

[Bug 611591] Re: InvalidArgs - Mountpoint Already registered when mounting SMB share

2010-11-02 Thread John Kuang
I get this error message too most of the times when I click on unmounted
bookmarked shares. This error message pops up:

Could not display smb://server/share/folder.
Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: Mountpoint Already
registered
Please select another viewer and try again.

Despite this error msg, the share is successfully mounted and appears on
the Network list in nautilus. Clicking on the bookmark again doesn't
produce the error msg, and just (sometimes) redirects the selection to
the folder in the Network list.

Happens with both sftp and smb shares. Currently on gvfs
1.6.4-0ubuntu1.1

[Bug 622004] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not remember column width

2010-08-21 Thread John Kuang
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox does not remember the column width that you set. Upon restart,
all the columns in it goes back to some default width. This is annoying
because I like to see the file location, which needs lots of space, so I
make most of the other columns narrower. But every time I restart
rhythmbox, I have to do this all over again.

This bug has been around for a long time. I'm using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on
Ubuntu 10.04.1 (32bit).

[Bug 193578] Re: Basic graphics operations makes audio skip (1 sec pauses)

2009-06-04 Thread John Kuang
I also experience the same skipping in rhythmbox, but not so much during
scrolling. The skipping is worst when I am switching between different
windows, maximizing/unmaximizing windows and also switching between tabs
on firefox.

This skipping goes away if compiz is disabled. The crossfading
workaround doesn't work for me as when playing WMA files it is
CONSTANTLY skipping even without activity. Perhaps similar to this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/353589

Here's my VGA card.

[Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.

2008-05-25 Thread John Kuang
I swapped in the smb-browse binary from comment 28. Seems to work, but
the only thing is it doesn't do is to save the passwords into the
keyring. Another big problem I discovered was that if you bookmark any
windows server (eg. smb://server ) that requires password in nautilus,
you will SLOW DOWN your save/save as/open dialogs in programs such as
gimp, openoffice, and practically any gtk programs. It will take around
5 seconds for the dialog to appear. When I removed those bookmarks, the
save/save as/open file dialogs became zippy again. Having the actual
share bookmarked (eg. smb://server/share) doesnt slow things down.
Anyone else experiencing this?
