I've now found out why Philip Langdale's ppa (https://launchpad.net/~langdalepl/+archive/gvfs-mtp) did not work. It also needs /etc/fuse.conf to be amended: uncomment the line for user_allow_other. [Bug 244446] [NEW] inactive menu, inactive launchers and applet icons not all displayed
Public bug reported: After a recent update from the repositories (under Hardy), a restart was required and done. Fortunately, the update manager informatory applet icon appears when a software update is available. After using Ctrl, Shift Backspace, the login screenn appears but on login the problem is still present. I suspect that it might have something to do with the glipper applet, as that sometimes appears after a long delay. ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- inactive menu, inactive launchers and applet icons not all displayed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/26 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 147759] Re: printer crashing when printing PDF
I've tried a number of permutations. There is a web page and 2 pdf files in the attached tar.gzip file. This webpage (in Firefox) fails to print on Feisty, Gutsy upgrade from Feisty Gutsy clean install. But when I paste the contents into Open Office Word Processor, it prints OK on any of the above PCs. The User Guide pdf file (using evince Document Viewer) succeeds in printing pages 1-2 on Gutsy upgrade from Feisty Gutsy clean install. It fails on Feisty as it can't find the printer (but I think that's another issue).
