[Bug 486652] [NEW] Problems opening NTFS partitions in Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-22 Thread John Wheelwright
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When you first login you can browse the NTFS partitions but when you change
between then after a while the laptop will freeze and you can't do anything (on
the Desktop )the taskbar options work so you can at least logoff.the error was
something about dbus but as you can see in the screenshot the error dosn't
appear anymore and you only get a empty grey box.
This use to work fine so i'm not sure what has happened.

[Bug 464962] Re: cdrom drive dosn't work in Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 Final

2009-11-12 Thread John Wheelwright
Hi WeatherGod

I installed some updates and everything seems to be working perfectly
now and all cd's,dvd's auto mount when inserted, the only problem i have
is that the eject button dosn't work but you can just right click on the
cdrom drive and click eject,I think a bug has already been reported for
this.

Thanks for the help.

[Bug 464962] [NEW] cdrom drive dosn't work in Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 Final

2009-10-30 Thread John Wheelwright
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When you boot up for the first time and login the cdrom drive will auto mount
the cd/dvd and open it with no problems but if you eject it and try and open a
different cd/dvd nothing happens.
This is a fresh installation of karmic with updates.
You can mount it by using mount /dev/cdrom but shouldn't it auto mount
everything by default?

[Bug 452318] Re: USB Memory Sticks don't show up in Ubuntu 9.10.

2009-10-29 Thread John Wheelwright
I just did the following and it seemed to work for me.

I removed /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi
according to this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...al/+bug/450160

*

After restarting HAL I had, however, still the same problem.

* I then proceeded with this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...er/+bug/429257

I simply wanted to see what the udevadm monitor command said
when inserting the devices, and strangely enough the device was auto
mounted as it should. Since invoking that command it seems my problem
went away. After a reboot, everything still works.

So, the solution lies either in the update or the other two points above, maybe
in conjunction. Can it be that udevadm created some needed files when invoked?

[Bug 457274] [NEW] Totem on Ubuntu 9.10

2009-10-21 Thread John Wheelwright
Public bug reported:

I'm having problems with Totem on Ubuntu 9.10 Beta as when I open a MP3 files
for the first time it will work find but if you select another song it won't
play at all or it will start after a few seconds if you are lucky. The same
applies to video clips but instead it will always open new clips you select but
if you select a new clip to play it will have no sound.
The only way to get around this is to totally close the application.
The Repeat mode dosn't work correctly ether except if you close Totem each time
before opening new files.

[Bug 452318] Re: USB Memory Sticks don't show up in Ubuntu 9.10.

2009-10-16 Thread John Wheelwright
What I just noticed was, if I leave the Memory stick plugged in and
restart my laptop and log back in the USB will show up as in
screenshot,But if I unplug it and plug it back in whilst logged on it
dosn't work.

[Bug 452318] Re: USB Memory Sticks don't show up in Ubuntu 9.10.

2009-10-16 Thread John Wheelwright
I have 2 keys with NTFS 8GB and one with 8GB FAT32,strange thing was
that i run some updates a few minutes ago then i just tried the keys and
they all came up??,then i rebooted and tried them again and it
didn't work so that is really strange???

I was using Ubuntu jaunty 9.04 before and everything worked so the keys
are fine in that respect.

Thanks.

2009-10-16 Thread John Wheelwright
I have a Hard drive that has 8 partitions
7 of them are NTFS which mount fine so i don't understand why the NTFS keys
don't mount.
1 of them is formated with ext4 which is used for the Ubuntu installation.

[Bug 452318] [NEW] USB Memory Sticks don't show up in Ubuntu 9.10.

2009-10-15 Thread John Wheelwright
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I plug in any USB memory stick into the USb port the PC dosn't seem to
open them and no Icon appears either,no error messages.
As far as I know i have installed the relevant software packages.
This is the new Ubuntu 9.10 beta version which I think is amazing and i hope
everything will be sorted out for the final release in two weeks time.
Just to memtion that I also cannot view DVD movies (Disks)and i have the
LIbdvd4 installed but other media Dvd;s seem to be okay.

Thanks.

Regards.

Hi Pedro.

I have added some things but I'm not 100% sure if that will help as I'm
new to Linux and still learning about it.

Regards.

thanks for the report, could you
attach the output of : dmesg
 dmesg.txt and devkit-disks --dump devkit.txt to
 the report? thanks.
and yes you need to plug the memory first.
