[Bug 408417] Re: No option to log in remotely via XDMCP
Fabián and Steve, do you think it's likely that XDMCP will be available in GDM again? It seems somewhat deprecated in favour of many newer technologies that are more likely to be implemented in a login manager. Are you planning to just mention this release note in every Ubuntu release then indefinitely? IMHO, since it's not a regression and since it's probably likely to stay that way, it should probably not have to be mentioned in the release notes. For Lucid it was since it might have affected 8.04 - 10.10 upgrades, I don't believe it's relevant for 10.10 though. -- No option to log in remotely via XDMCP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment
@Dag (#569) Well, as Mark pointed out before, we really need more data before any real solid good choices can be made. Perhaps we should ask ourselves whether buttons should be ordered according to whether they are most desctructive, or most used. Personally, I spend more clicks on closing windows than minimizing and maximizing or restoring them. I'm willing to bet that if if do a study, you'll find that: a. Most people also close windows more than any of the other window functions on the title bar b. Most users would prefer having the most used actions from LTR if they are a LTR user Additionally, if a user clicks on the close button accidentally, most software will confirm the closing of the window if it's a potentially destructive close. If not, it's a bug in that software. I think this is one of those cases where Apple got it right, and I'm glad that Canonical decided to make this change before release. -- [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 235403] Re: Hangs when Loading a pdf
I can confirm this bug. It simply displays Loading... the first time you attempt to open a PDF. When you open the PDF the second time, it opens fine. This only occurs with certain PDF files. This is initially reported by a client, unfortunately I do not have any PDF files myself that fail, I will upload as soon as I have broken PDF files available. -- Hangs when Loading a pdf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 182956] Re: gdm restarts after first login attempt, second time works normally
If you're experiencing this bug, can you please upload a copy of the following files directly after this has occurred? It might be best to provide both before logging in correctly the second time. - /var/log/gdm/:0.log - /home/(user-you're-logging-on-as)/.xsession-errors Does this bug occur with any user that logs in, or only specific users? -- gdm restarts after first login attempt, second time works normally https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182956 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 50762] Eject command claims that data is being written to a read only disc
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When right-clicking on an audio disk on the Gnome desktop and clicking eject, a dialog pops up claiming that data is being written to the disc. Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'gnome- desktop'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Philip Paquette Status: Needs Info -- Eject command claims that data is being written to a read only disc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50762 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 67378] users-admin does not check usernames for reserved system names/groups
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools In the Ubuntu debian-installer, it checks for reserved names such as 'admin', ie. you can't use admin as the username when creating the first user. The Gnome Users and Groups allows you to create a user called admin. If users shouldn't create users called 'admin', then users-admin should not allow it. I mark this as a security vulnerability, because it affects system security. When a user might unwittingly add a user called admin (which is quite plausible), and then remove the user again for some reason, then the group 'admin' will be gone too, which means that no one on the system will have sudo root access, and updates won't take place, causing even more potential problems. ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Rejected -- users-admin does not check usernames for reserved system names/groups https://launchpad.net/bugs/67378 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 67517] Re: Multiple windows of home loaded for no reason
I can confirm this bug. I've encountered it several times when logging in on a thin client. Without clicking on anything, 3-5 Nautilus windows will pop up on login. It is very unpredictable and indeed difficult to re-produce. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- Multiple windows of home loaded for no reason https://launchpad.net/bugs/67517 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
