[Bug 885669] Re: Unlock dialog not visible after resuming when there's a full screen application

2012-01-27 Thread Jonathan Lange
The laptop on which I saw this bug has become unusable. I no longer have
the hardware to duplicate it.

That's a non sequitur. Linux is still as customizable as ever, there's
just one particular program on Linux that you wish to customize that
isn't very customizable: Unity. No matter how elegant and simple they
make Unity, you'll always be able to swap it out for something with a
lot more knobs to tweak. It is impossible for Unity to subtract from
the customizability of Linux.

CORRECTION. My earlier comment (no. 7), was made mistakenly. This bug
*only* occurs when I log in unplugged. When I log in plugged in, it
works.

[Bug 745671] [NEW] Unthemed desktop when logging in

2011-03-30 Thread Jonathan Lange
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

I just logged in after upgrading (apt-get upgrade, not apt-get dist-
upgrade). The panel at the top of the screen wasn't themed properly, it
looks default GNOME grey. Similarly, GNOME widgets have the default
(ugly) GNOME styling.

Rick Spencer was nearby and said it was because gnome-settings-daemon
wasn't running. When I ran gnome-settings-daemon from the terminal, I
got these warnings:

[Bug 105772] Sound preferences break when USB headset is disconnected then reconnected

2007-04-11 Thread Jonathan Lange
Public bug reported:

I use a Logitech USB headset. On the System | Preferences | Sound dialog
box, I set all the Sound playback and Sound capture options to USB
Audio. All sound now plays through my headset, which is good.

If I disconnect the headset, then reconnect the headset, sound is played
through my laptop speakers. This is unexpected. Sound should continue to
play through my headset. When I go the System | Preferences | Sound
dialog box, all of the options are set to USB Audio (disconnected). I
can change them to USB Audio and then sound works as expected.
