[Bug 363791] [NEW] [jaunty] evolution crashes on suspend

2009-04-19 Thread Jos Dehaes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

On Jaunty: After resuming from suspend (to ram, haven't tried
hibernate), evolution is gone. All other programs are still there. This
happens every time, and is a regression, used to work in intrepid.

I don't know how to go about debugging it, apport is not generating any
report for it. I think it's related to losing the network.

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 363791] Re: [jaunty] evolution crashes on suspend

2009-04-19 Thread Jos Dehaes
I just tried disabling the network (via the manager applet), and re-
enabling it. On the re-enabling, evolution dies.

I started evolution on the console and got the following trace:

[Bug 40125] Re: Network cards not detected when resuming from suspend / hibernate

2008-04-23 Thread Jos Dehaes
For me it is fixed 99% of the time in hardy (intel iwl3945 and NM).
Yesterday after a suspend/resume spree to try and reproduce another bug,
after about 10 cycles in very short time, the NetworkManager daemon
failed to reconnect. I killed it and restarted, and this fixed it. But
normally it works fine.

I'm getting this dialog too, but the list of profiles is always empty.
Even if I add a new one, it doesn't show up in the list, although it is
visible in gconf-editor. All the predefined profiles are empty in gconf-
editor. Sound-juicer is totally unusable in gutsy for me.

Somehow my gconf tree was corrupt. I deleted the system dir there, and
the profiles were restored. Now sound-juicer starts up, but still can
not rip (or even load) the CD. Will open a seperate bug for that.

[Bug 137830] [gutsy] sound-juicer can not see audio CD in drive

2007-09-06 Thread Jos Dehaes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

I put an audio CD in the drive, start sound-juicer, but it can not even
see the CD. The GNOME cd player sees and plays the CD just fine.
Rhythmbox, banshee show the same behaviour, none see that there is an
audio CD in the drive. Also nautilus does not see the audio CD. Starting
from the commandline shows following errors:

** (sound-juicer:8116): WARNING **: Could not lock drive: Extracting
audio from CD

** (sound-juicer:8116): WARNING **: Error getting media type

I tried with strace, but I don't see anything useful there (can attach
the log if needed).

[Bug 92032] Re: after resume, networkmanager reprompts for WPA key

2007-03-13 Thread Jos Dehaes
If I disable pam-keyring, networkmanager correctly prompts me for the
keyring password, unlocks the keyring and reconnects with the
accesspoint after that. So a recent update to libpam-keyring should be
the culprit.

I retested with pam-keyring enabled. I get the same error (screenshot

[Bug 89235] can no longer jump words with CTRL-arrow in gnome-terminal

2007-03-02 Thread Jos Dehaes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

In edgy, one can navigate the command line with control-arrow
(left/right) to jump over words. This is not possible in feisty's gnome-
terminal. Instead it prints a control character as in the following
example:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ foo;5C;5D;5C;5D

As you can see, it prints a ;5C for ctrl-right and ;5D for ctrl-left.

This makes navigating a long command line cumbersome.

[Bug 69465] gaim package is missing gaim-remote.py

2006-10-31 Thread Jos Dehaes

Hi,

the gaim control file deletes all .py files, thus also erasing gaim-
remote.py, which I use from a script. The comment says something about

in the control file, and gaim-remote works perfectly.

Can this be fixed?

[Bug 39544] Re: epiphany does not work on a remote desktop session

2006-04-14 Thread Jos Dehaes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 29906 ***

I don't agree this is a duplicate, since on my system dbus *is* installed and
running:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps -ef | grep dbus
104 4220 1 0 Apr06 ?00:00:15 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon --system
jos 16806 16760 0 Apr09 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/ssh-agent

jos 16809 1 0 Apr09 ?00:00:00 dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid
8 --print-address 6 --session
jos 16810 1 0 Apr09 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/dbus-launch
--exit-with-session x-session-manager
jos 16112 16063 0 14:06 pts/700:00:00 grep dbus

This is part of a larger dbus problem, since at login with NX (probably also
with regular xdmcp, haven't checked) I also get a warning from
gnome-power-manager about the session bus, and gnome-power is not available
either in the remote session (but that is not really a problem).

Oops, repost an old comment... please ignore that one...

The local machine is windows. The remote machine is dapper. So that dbus-daemon
is running on the remote machine (the one where I start epiphany).

I probably also have a local session running on the remote system as well,
maybe this has something to do with it?

I can confirm that the dbus-launch workaround works, but I still think it

[Bug 39544] Re: epiphany does not work on a remote desktop session

2006-04-14 Thread Jos Dehaes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 29906 ***

Epiphany refuses to start with no session daemon running, so it is unusable.

There are 2 use-cases for me:
- a full remote desktop login (using NX, or XDMCP) - use the dbus-launch
gnome-session trick
- ssh with X forwarding - use dbus-launch epiphany

so I now have a workaround for both, but for users who are new to linux, or
don't know the workaround, epiphany won't work, and they won't know how to fix
it. This should all be transparent to the user, this trickery shouldn't be
needed.

In the case that you log into a remote box with SSH and X forwarding, starting
epiphany should launch a dbus session daemon if it really needs one. An
alternative is to run it in standalone mode or something when it's run this
way?

In the case of a full remote desktop login, gnome-session should spawn the dbus
session daemon, not the other way around in my opinion.
