I read about a bug similar to this affecting mutter 3.34,but said that
they can see the poi ter in the second screen. In this case my monitor
falls in no-signal after a few seconds of trying to get the correct
mode.

(pls, sorry for my English)

[Bug 1899252] Re: quick alt-tab doenst work

2020-10-12 Thread Juan Carlos
Hello, Ive realized something, this behavior only occurs when I'm using
a second monitor, if I alt tab with only 1 monitor then alt tab works as
intended, but when using a second monitor then all the windows of the
app that are in the second monitor are displayed with Alt+tab. This
wasn't the case with Ubuntu 18.04.

Thanks.

Hello, I dont know why that extension shows as installed, it was already
erased when i posted the bug.

So removing it changed nothing.

Re: [Bug 1892440] Re: Shell text with wrong size in mutter 3.36.4-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 (mostly on Nvidia)

2020-09-26 Thread Juan Avila
It's not working for me using nvidia graphic card. The only way to work around
is to use lightdm instead of gdm3, but I can't login automatically.
I started using Ubuntu budgie in dual boot until the bug is fixed.
I tried Kubuntu and the bug is also in Kubuntu.

[Bug 1893792] [NEW] very tiny fonts on top bar. I downgraded libmutter package temporarily as a workaround

2020-09-01 Thread Juan Avila
Public bug reported:

The temporary solution is:

sudo apt install libmutter-6-0=3.36.1-3ubuntu3 gir1.2-mutter-6=3.36.1-3ubuntu3
sudo apt-mark hold libmutter-6-0

This bug seems to be realated to nvdia graphic cards drivers as there is
no bug when using the open source nvidia driver.

Waiting for you to find a solution guys.

I'm not the only one with this bug. I've found the temporary solution on
the net.

Thank-you

[Bug 1823793] [NEW] Font scaling not working on gnome startup

2019-04-08 Thread Juan Pablo Aroztegi
Public bug reported:

The font text scaling setting is not being loaded on gnome startup. I
have font text scaling set to 1.25. After updating mutter to package
version 3.32.0-1ubuntu1 the text scaling setting is not loaded any more
when starting gnome. Steps to reproduce the issue:

1) Set your font scaling factor to something other than the default '1'.
This can be set, for example, either by using "Gnome tweaks" or with
gsettings:

settings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.25

2) You'll see that the top bar text gets larger.
3) Log out and log in. You'll see that the top bar text and text in general has
been reset to the default '1'. The setting is still set to '1.25', but visually
it's '1'.

If you set the value to something else, it gets applied correctly, until
you log out.

This worked as expected on package version 3.32.0-1. I wonder if this patch
listed in the CHANGELOG could have somehow created this side effect:
debian/patches/x11-Add-support-for-fractional-scaling-using-Randr.patch:
- X11: Add support for fractional scaling using Randr

[Bug 1812446] [NEW] Bluetooth mouse stops responding after 24-48 hours of connectivity

2019-01-18 Thread Juan Martinez
Public bug reported:

Tested on Dell XPS 9370, Ubuntu 18.04 Dell OEM ISO (for this model)

-Bluetooth mouse (Tested with a HP x4000b BT Laser Mouse) stops
responding after 1-2 days of being connected whereas the expectation is
that the mouse would continue working normally

-Bluetooth settings window will initially report Bluetooth is on when
opened.

-Switching away and back to the Bluetooth settings GUI will now show Bluetooth
as disabled, and Settings GUI will lock up until system is restarted.
o Settings window can be force closed and re-opened, but it will still
be locked up on the Bluetooth tab

-When moving the mouse or clicking any buttons in this state, the
Bluetooth icon in the top right GNOME menu bar will briefly flash the
Bluetooth icon but there is no actual mouse activity.

-dmesg log shows an extremely large number of events “Bluetooth: hci0:
last event is not cmd complete (0x0f)”

[Bug 1807276] Re: Cannot swipe up from bottom of screen to get Onscreen Keyboard in Xorg

2019-01-18 Thread Juan Martinez
It may be worth mentioning that we are unable to reproduce the error on
some more esoteric models like rugged machines.

One theory is that Xorg/GNOME may have different thresholds than Wayland
for detecting the swipe-up gesture and this may be impacted by the
particulars of how displays report touch information

FAIL: Precision 5530
- Max "ABS_Y" value from evtest is 7743 (the highest Y-value for touch
observed in testing)
- Note 7743 doesn't seem to have an obvious relationship with
the screen resolution, if that is significant
- Hardware = "Wacom HID 486A Finger"

PASS: Rugged mobile (different touch hardware)
- Max Y "ABS_Y" value in evtest is 3840 - this is the same value as the
vertical screen resolution
- Hardware = "Atmel maxTouch Digitizer"
- No issues on X or Wayland triggering the OSK

[Bug 1807276] [NEW] Cannot swipe up from bottom of screen to get Onscreen Keyboard in Xorg

2018-12-06 Thread Juan Martinez
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.10 / GNOME Shell 3.30.1
ALSO
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / GNOME Shell 3.28.1

Steps to reproduce on our end:

- Login (Xorg as default)
- Attempt to swipe up with finger from below screen
RESULT: It draws a thin vertical (desktop) selection box, but no OSK
- Logout
- Log back in, after first hitting 'gear' button to select 'Ubuntu on Wayland'
- ps -e | grep Xwayland #shows 'Xwayland' process is running
- Repeat swipe up with finger from below screen
RESULT: OSK shows up as expected

This has been verified both in 1920x1080 as well as 3840x2160
resolutions (also with various scaling options selected)

Issue is also logged upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-

Confirmed same issue exists in Cosmic. Reported to upstream
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/831)

We don’t intend to deviate from Canonical’s defaults for OEM projects
unless necessary, but want to make sure that all issues are resolved
when the defaults "are" Wayland.

[Bug 1270579] Re: On laptops, screen brightness isn't memorized between sessions

2015-02-02 Thread Jorge Juan
I wrote a couple of upstart scripts to save and retore brightness
between bootups. I hope the scripts are smart enough to run unmodified
in any system with /sys/class/backlight.

You can find them at bitbucket with install instructions:

https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness

Quick manual:

cd /etc/init
sudo wget
https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness/raw/d9a5d9484475eb1256d56c64b28e680a7aeae72c/brightness-store.conf
sudo wget
https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness/raw/d9a5d9484475eb1256d56c64b28e680a7aeae72c/brightness-restore.conf

Test reports and patches are wellcome (these are my first upstart
scripts).

Enjoy!

[Bug 1391555] Re: Bluetooth mouse battery reported as Extra battery

2015-01-20 Thread Jorge Juan
Problem solved in 14.04.1 when reverted to original kernel:

$ uname -a
Linux jjc-xps 3.13.0-44-generic #73-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 16 00:22:43 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Problem happens when using updated kernel also in the repositories:

Linux jjc-xps 3.16.0-29-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 16 20:54:13 UTC
2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So problem may be kernel-related or upower/gnome-power-manager not
understanding new kernels.

Previous report was generated with 3.16.0-29-generic #39.

People with 14.10 may try to boot with a 3.13 kernel and report here.

Same problem in Ubuntu 14.04 with a Dell XPS 13 9333. Extrangely, before
upgrading to 14.04 from the original stock 12.04 Ubuntu version shipped
with the computer, the mouse battery was reported correctly (as a
mouse).

The title of this bug is fairly descriptive: Ubuntu doesn't show in any

ubuntu version (this occurs in all Ubuntu versions until now) and the
involves packages is described in this bug.

[Bug 594674] Re: Trash is not shown on --bind mounted filesystems

2014-10-13 Thread Juan Simón
Ubuntu 14.04

This problem occurs too in symlink folders on another drive:

I have created several symlinks in my home folder to folders in another drive.
I have changed the permissions of that mounted drive:

drwxrwxrwx 6 root root 4,0K oct 13 17:30 media/

When I delete some file/folder on some of that symlinks, from Nautilus,
it's sent to Trash folder in `media` drive:

$ ll /media/.Trash-1000/
total 8,0K
drwx-- 2 simon simon 4,0K oct 13 17:32 files/
drwx-- 2 simon simon 4,0K oct 13 17:32 info/

but it isn't showed in Nautilus trash.

[Bug 1035701] Re: grilo plugins should be enabled in Totem

2014-05-14 Thread Juan A . Suárez Romero
The point is that the misbehaving could be in either the grilo plugins,
or in totem itself. So if the problem is in Totem, and you remove
plugins from the system, then other applications that work fine with
such plugins won't have the opportunity to use them.

On the other hand, such bugs could be already fixed in recent versions.
Are those problems specific to Ubuntu? Any idea if they are present also
in Debian?

Regarding the last paragraph, Grilo and plparser use mainly two
libraries for the work: GData, that provides access to the Youtube API,
and libquvi, that helps to get the real URL for further displaying. The
changes that YouTube does are mainly about the later. So it totally
depends on the libquvi version you have in the system. In general
libquvi is pretty updated, so if you keep in sync with the latest
releases very likely everthing will work fine.

[Bug 1035701] Re: grilo plugins should be enabled in Totem

2014-05-13 Thread Juan A . Suárez Romero
Florian: I don't think rhythmbox is filtering the bad plugins, though
any maintainer can confirm it. I think they just filter out those
plugins not interesting for rhythmbox, maybe because there's another
plugin in rhythmbox already providing such content, or just because the
the content provided is of no interest (like plugins providing video,
when we are interested on audio, something that have changed in
upstream, as you have noticed).

So if a plugin works bad, I think the proper solution is to fix a bug
for it, and if it's very urgent, maybe removing the plugin. Using a
blacklist isn't a good idea.

[Bug 1035701] Re: grilo plugins should be enabled in Totem

2014-05-13 Thread Juan A . Suárez Romero
Also, if something is working bad, it doesn't mean that the problem is
in the grilo plugins. Note that Totem and in Rythmbox also have use
Grilo through a totem-grilo or rhythmbox-grilo plugin. So the problem
can be there.

Grilo provides a test-ui that is useful to check if the problem is in
Grilo itself or in the application using it (totem/rhythmbox-plugin).

[Bug 1264796] [NEW] every time you start the rare screen for a few seconds before it gets

2013-12-28 Thread juan josue
Public bug reported:

I update my ubuntu 10 to 12.04, in my session change the resolution of
the monitor, because I had detected that default was bigger and did not
allow me to see this bar at the top of the screen.

Now every time you start the rare screen for a few seconds before it
gets, then load my session well.

I think that is the burden of the new resolution of the monitor, but I
hate that little problem, lest I damage the hardware over time.

I am novice but I am willing to change my Remote Access solventarme
operating system error

[Bug 1186485] [NEW] rhythmbox crashes when drag and drop mp3 to iphone icon

2013-05-31 Thread Juan Camilo Vasco
Public bug reported:

I'm experimenting a crash when I try to DragDrop a MP3 file from my
Music list to the Iphone icon

I'll tried to open rhythmbox from the Terminal and this happens when I
reproduce the issue

property encoding-target for object `RBTrackTransferBatch' can't be set after
construction
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Is strange because I can play the music from my Iphone, even delete it
without problem.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04

[Bug 891982] Re: Totem gives location not found error from any terminal window other than the one used to open the application

2013-01-28 Thread Juan Carlos Inostroza
Hi,

the problem is still happening in this version:

totem:
  Installed: 3.0.1-0ubuntu21.1
  Candidate: 3.0.1-0ubuntu21.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.0.1-0ubuntu21.1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.0.1-0ubuntu21 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages

Error message can be replicated as follows:

1.- Open any media file using totem from terminal window (on directory A)
2.- Open another terminal window
3.- Switch to another directory (directory B) and launch totem with any file
from directory B/
4.- Error message appears

The message on the totem instance is this:

** Message: Error: Resource not found.
gstfilesrc.c(1042): gst_file_src_start ():
/GstPlayBin2:play/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin3/GstFileSrc:source:
No such file media file

In my case, launched totem from :~/Music/1/Quantum Conundrum
Soundtrack. Then on another terminal launched totem from
~/Music/1/Riverside - 2013. Error is

gstfilesrc.c(1042): gst_file_src_start ():
/GstPlayBin2:play/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin1/GstFileSrc:source:
No such file /home/jci/Music/1/Quantum Conundrum Soundtrack/01 - Riverside -
New Generation Slave.mp3

Seems that totem is sticking to the first directory instead.

Kind regards,
--j

[Bug 1084577] [NEW] http_proxy not refreshed properly after upgrade

2012-11-29 Thread Juan C. Ruiz
Public bug reported:

This is a regression from a 11.x. Problem description:
In Quantal 12.10, the http_proxy variable gets stuck (at least on bash) to the
proxy setting even if it's not set. The only way to get it refreshed properly
is to logout and login.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Using networking set the proxy
2. Open terminal verify that the $http_proxy is set up
3. Suspend the computer (optional)
4. Unset the proxy
5. echo $http_proxy

The problem was gone in 12.04

[Bug 703302] Re: Toshiba Laptop battery not being detected

2012-06-28 Thread Juan R. Gagete Mateos
Hi everyone.

First of all, my computer is a Toshiba Satellite L750 with Windows 7
and Ununtu 10.04 (up to date).

I followed the steps described by tuxsage and it works fine, but only
with ubuntu 10.04.

After some tries with some linux distributions I understand that it is a
problem of the kernel, as it is common for all the distributions I tried
on this laptop (I don't know if this affects to other models)

I also tried this solution using Debian 6.0.4 and the result was that
the kernel detects the battery but when it is not connected to AC power
the brightness goes down so it is impossible to see the screen and there
is no way to increase it. I need to restart the computer after that.

Ubuntu 10.04 works fine with the solution provided by Tuxsage but when I
put the system in suspend mode, I cannot restart it. The keyboard is
blocked and there is no way of knowing what is happening.

The worst of it is that linux users have to words like Tuxage says:

The cause of issue is because Toshiba included two sets of boot data
that tell the OS what hardware exists in the machine. Windows reads the
correct one whereas Linux doesn’t.

This is a message to all the people working in the kernel of linux. How
is is possible that kwnowing the source of the problem this issue is not
solved yet?

Please, forgive me if I am so severe with my words, but if we want to
win the market share against other operatin systems this kind of issues
need to be solved as soon as possible (reported several years ago,
please correct me if I am wrong).

The user should be able to install any distribution of linux whit no
aesthetic issues like this one. Linux shoul be (as far as possible)
install and use it.

I am at your dispossal for any help, but I am a common user, no
thecnical skill.

I hope that my comment helps linux to be stronger.

Regards.
