[Bug 74975] No undo or cancel button on property dialogs

2007-08-08 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

Summary:

When editing the properites of an object, let it be in Nautilus,
Rhythmbox, or any other Gnome application, there is no way to cancel the
operation and revert to the original values.

Sometimes this is not a problem, when there's only _one_ edited value
and we remember the original value, but in general this causes a lot of
trouble to new and experienced users.

Most important it sets the burden on the user to undo any accidental
damage or mistake.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a Nautilus window.
2. Right click on a file and enter the properties dialog.
3. Change the file name to some stupid value. Wait one hour until you have
forgotten the original value :-)
4. Close the window with either the Ctrl+W shortcut or Close button.

What happens:

The new wrong value is stored, independent on the way we close the
window.

What should happen:

The dialog should offer the user a way to undo the change before closing
the window. Even if the guideline is to apply instantly these changes,
the changes should be reverted unless the user confirms them.

Related bugs:

The same problem appears in Rhythmbox when editing the properties of a
song.

Linux release: Ubuntu 6.10 with latest updates

[Bug 76600] Move music files on import

2006-12-20 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Summary:

rhythmbox should offer the possibility of moving audio files to the
Library directory when they are imported, just like it does with audio
files ripped from a CD.

Rationale:

* The current name import file/directory is misleading, because files are not
imported into the library directory, they are just listed in the database.
* Rythmbox already has options to specify how files are stored in the library
directory.
* The lack of this feature forces the user to organize the files by hand,
writing onto the library directory and trying to mimic this organization
* This feature would be very useful, as it would allow us to reorganize the
music library whenever we want: i.e move all files from the library somewhere
else, empty the library, import. The music is organized!

[Bug 49703] Re: Evolution marks all my mails as junk

2006-12-13 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
An accurate description of it would be Emails marked automatically as
spam by evolution were also marked as read. Unfortunately I have
changed job and the machine where this happened is no longer available.
I have also stopped using Evolution and have no intention to test it
again .. feel free to close this bug.

[Bug 71228] No pause button

2006-11-10 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

System: Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10, rhythmbox-0.9.6-0ubuntu4

Description:

When playing mp3 files in Rythmbox, the same button is used to play and
pause reproduction. However the icon of the button does not change when
moving from pause to play and it is confusing.

Steps to reproduce:

1 Open Rythmbox
2 Select an mp3 file
3 Press the play button, the file will begin to play, the button remains a
triangle
4 Press that same button, the file stops, the icon is still a triangle.

What should happen:

When reproducing the file, the play button should get a different
icon, ideally the two vertical bars which represent pause in most
multimedia devices.

[Bug 49703] Re: [Bug 49703] Re: Evolution marks all my mails as junk

It is the fact that it is marked as read when I have not read it. It makes
it impossible to verify the mail marked as junk.

[Bug 49703] Re: Evolution marks all my mails as junk

2006-06-16 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Ubuntu: Drapper Drake
Evolution: 2.6.1-0ubuntu7

I just use the Junk facility from Ubuntu. I have not configured
spamassasin or bogofilter myself. Well, at least I did not know about
bogofilter, but I see that it has been installed and it is version 1.0.1

I updated on the very day of the release. This has happened this week.

The worst thing is that the emails were both marked as junk and as read.
That made them disappear de facto. I do not know if this issue can be
tracked by itself.

Another thing is that in our mail server we have a local spam detector,
that sets up a header in all emails, with X-Spam-Level: and then a
number of asterisks '*'. I have a filter that filters on having '*'
and then sets junk. However, the emails that disappeared did not have
this header.

Today I have restarted evolution. For security reasons I have set up
fetchmail so that it copies all my emails to gmail. I will report if
this happens again -- so far it has not.

[Bug 49703] Re: Evolution marks all my mails as junk

2006-06-16 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
It is confirmed: when Evolution marks an email as junk according to a
filter, it also marks it as read.

I have systematically seen this with several emails that are marked
witha X-Spam-Level from our local mailserver.

This behavior was not present before: emails marked as spam by our
mailserver were moved to the Junk folder but not marked as read, so that
I could verify the filtering.

[Bug 49703] Evolution marks all my mails as junk

2006-06-14 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution is marking all my mail from all sources as junk. I have
deactivated first the remote tests feature and even then it still
happens.

Furthermore, junk mail ends up tagged with the read flag, so I cannot
even scan the Junk folder looking for newly arrived mail.

I will gladly provide you with whatever information you need, but this
is definitely most annoying and it has lead me to several troubles at
work.

[Bug 35218] Re: Clicking a link does not open browser.

2006-06-02 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
In my case what I find annoying is that the default behavior reuses
firefox windows.

I typically have several copies of firefox running on different desktops
and when I click on a link in evolution it opens the link in god-knows-
which-window and i have to search through the desktops.

I think a sensible default would be to open the link in a new window.

[Bug 47472] Size of window not remembered

2006-05-30 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

This is something I reported quite some time ago, but I cannot find it
in the database.

Basically, evince does not remember the window size between
invocations, nor does it reuse the window size of an opened copy. This
would not be such an inconvenience for an image viewer, but for a PDF
viewer evince has a too small window size initially.

This happens with Ubuntu 6.06 LTS

2006-05-30 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
I tried submitting this bug with the bug reporting tool that popped up
when evolution crashed, but this tool also crashed when I tried sending
the backtrace. I did this several times.

In the end it turned out that somehow the newest version of evolution
had problem with the indices and metadata files of the previously
installed version. Now evolution does not crash any more.
