[Bug 218685] [NEW] Rename system sound option in gnome-sound-properties
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center In the Sound-tab of gnome-sound-properties I have a checkbox called Play system sounds. One might think that this is a system-wide setting but in fact it only deals with the below listed sounds. Other system components like gdm or gnome-power-management will play sounds even if unchecked. That's why I suggest to rename the checkbox label and the label for the sound list to something less ambigious not containing the word system like Play event sounds or Play notification sounds. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Rename system sound option in gnome-sound-properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Don't take this as rant, but the word urgent in an almost three years old bug report seems a bit ironic. [Bug 156385] Re: GDM playes accessibility sounds even if deactivated
Just tested this on a fresh install of Hardy Beta and it's still present. I understand the hierarchy of the components of the accessibility tab in gdmsetup as follows: If I haven't Activate accessibility modules (not using the English version right now, so this is maybe not exact) ticked, the values of the checkboxes for Themes and Sounds should be handled as false. But if one of those sound options is ticked I still can hear sounds when GDM starts. In addition: When unticking Play system sounds in the system's audio settings I don't expect GDM - as a system component - to play sound (no matter if accessibility modules for GDM are activated or not). -- GDM playes accessibility sounds even if deactivated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156385 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
