[Bug 486960] Re: Brasero disk burner won't get past Preparing to write.

2009-12-18 Thread Koen Beek
Also had this problem on Karmic.
First burn a DVD, no problem
Then tried to burn a CD and cancelled and tried again and cancelled and after
minutes Brasero was still preparing to burn
launching brasero from terminal as root solved the problem

sudo dpkg --purge remove those packages listed before

[Bug 164584] Re: gedit: trash files do not show in file browser

2007-11-27 Thread Koen Beek
Hi,

there is an option in Views which is called Show Hidden Files which
can also be used to toggle viewing backup (~) and hidden files (.)

changing the option in view-show hidden files seems to take effect
immediately in your nautilus session (however a change will not be remembered
across different nautilus sessions)
the value set in preferences-views-show backup and hidden files has a
different behavior :
  - this value will be used at a next nautilus session
  - a change in this value will take effect immediately only if the view-show
hidden files option has not been used in that nautilus session

I'm not sure whether this is the way it is supposed to work

In gedit you can right-click in the side pane and than choose
filter-show hidden to show hidden/backup files (or click on the key
symbol in the side pane)

same versions as Marc but on a Gutsy64bit

detailed version info :

Linux 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 21:45:15 GMT 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux

assuming the bahavior described above for nautilus is what is supposed to
happen I can't reproduce the problem
(I also tried in the file browser opened by nautilus when choosing open)

I have managed to see every hidden file twice in one of the file browser opened
by gedit
I'll try to include a way to reproduce it systematically

[Bug 164584] Re: gedit: trash files do not show in file browser

2007-11-27 Thread Koen Beek
way to reproduce :

1. set-up gedit

- open gedit
- click on open
- right-click on directory view and make sure that Show hidden files is active
- close gedit

2. create problem

- open gedit
- click on open (hidden files should now be shown)
- right-click on directory view and uncheck show hidden files (the hidden
files do not disappear !)
- right-click on directory view and check show hidden files (the hidden files
are now shown twice)

I've attached a screencast of the second part

It's not the same problem as Marc but I suppose they may well be linked
?

2007-11-27 Thread Koen Beek
I've tried to reproduce on a gksudo gedit and I can't reproduce the
double hidden files there

I have installed all kinds of extensions to my non sudo gedit which might be
causing or contributing to the problem
(I followed a lot of what was suggested here
http://www.micahcarrick.com/09-29-2007/gedit-html-editor.html)

the gksudo configuration of gedit does not have a lot of customizations and is
pretty much as it came with ubuntu (except for the background color)

[Bug 164988] Re: file size displayed incorrectly

2007-11-26 Thread Koen Beek
forget my last comment, man gunzip says :

The uncompressed size is given as -1 for files not in gzip format, such as
compressed .Z files. To get the uncompressed size for such a file, you can use:
  zcat file.Z | wc -c

as the .Z files in in compressed format (using compress command), it is
normal that gunzip -l reports -1 as uncompressed size

the reported size by fileroller of 17179869184 GB is = 2^34 GB or 2^64
bytes, so maybe the -1 is translated to an unsigned max value in
fileroller ?

It would probably be better to report unknown in stead of an incorrect
number

2007-11-18 Thread Koen Beek
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW]

2007-11-18 Thread Koen Beek
Hi, I can confirm that the gnome-font-viewer does not start when run
from the menu

running it from a terminal does work : gnome-font-viewer
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeMono.ttf

however running it from a terminal without a font file gives an error
message : usage: gnome-font-viewer fontfile

2007-11-16 Thread Koen Beek
Hi,

thanks for your explanation (I have never used this key on my keyboard
before)

I have the same behavior in nautilus - context menu pops up next to mouse
pointer in stead of cursor - KO
however in gedit, the context-menu pops up next to the cursor when using the
keyboard - OK in gedit for me
I have also tried in the gnome menu - KO

 confirmed

2007-11-15 Thread Koen Beek
Hi,

could you please enter any information in English please even if your English
is not good (you can always use translate.google.com if necessary)
  请您输入任何资料,在英语请即使你的英语不是很好(你可以总是使用translate.google.com如有必要)

it would be helpful if you could find a way in which your system
systematically crashes and then report how you get the crash.

if this is not possible can you try with the following option to eliminate
pango as a source for your problems

start firefox in a terminal by typing the following :

 export MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1
 firefox

thanks,

  Koen

I don't really understand the concept of local subscription (except possibly to

I've tried it in Kmail and it does not seem to do anything for me
I'll set the bug back as undecided and let someone else from the bugsquad have
