[Bug 1079953] Re: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10
Keep only one issue per bug report, please. Otherwise it's too complicated to track what's been fixed and what's still open. Thanks. -- Ticking/unticking boxes in alacarte does not stick. -- New menu items created with alacarte are not put in place. -- Menu items deleted with alacarte remain in place. -- Moving items from one menu folder to another with alacarte no longer works. Already fixed in Bug #1069207 for raring, and currently available in quantal-proposed for testing. (Note: exo-utils for xfce, which provides exo-desktop-item-edit, IS fully installed but this does not resolve the above bugs.) I patched alacarte in Ubuntu to call exo-desktop-item-edit when the environment variable $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP is equal to XFCE. If you installed Xubuntu and didn't change the session startup it should be fine. It seems better if the alacarte Applications Menu Editor in xubuntu would be replaced as standard (or at least as an option through the (x)ubuntu repos) by LXMenuEditor (http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/). Try menulibre instead, at least it's not in java. :P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079953 Title: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1079953/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1026058] Re: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics
This Electronics submenu is not part of Xubuntu by default. You've probably installed an extra package that provides a .menu in /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/ (they will be automatically included in the panel menu). But indeed, it seems that alacarte doesn't support menu merging, that's why it doesn't appear in the editor. ** Package changed: xfce4-panel (Ubuntu) = alacarte (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: alacarte (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026058 Title: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1026058/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 829673] Re: FFE: No easy way to turn the network menu on/off
Unfortunately, as Nicolas wrote, the description of the gconf key added by the patch was wrong (it says 'hide it from the notification area', while it hides it from everywhere), see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager- applet/+bug/938380/comments/24. So when a fixed nm-applet is uploaded (cf. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager- applet/+bug/938380/comments/15), I'll need to make an upload of xubuntu- default-settings to revert this commit: http://bazaar.launchpad.net /~xubuntu-dev/xubuntu-default-settings/trunk/revision/354 (introduced in 12.0.4.7). And everything should be fine. It's not really a big problem, anyway (but the fact that the documentation included in the patch is wrong is really annoying post feature freeze, I wouldn't have made the xubuntu-default-settings change otherwise...). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829673 Title: FFE: No easy way to turn the network menu on/off To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-indicator-mods/+bug/829673/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 829673] Re: FFE: No easy way to turn the network menu on/off
FWIW, your nm-applet patch causes a regression in Xubuntu, since now we have nm-applet both in the systray and the indicator-plugin... If we need some action for xubuntu-default-settings (set the gconf key to false), I guess it's better to warn/notify us somehow (my changelog- analysing-heuristic-for-sneaky-changes-post-feature-freeze is not that efficient :). To put it in a nutshell, should I set '/apps/nm-applet/show-applet' to FALSE by default in xubuntu-default-settings, or will the patch behavior/key name/key default value change in the near future? @The Rook: Here, if I use the patch that resets selection-user_func, 'drag and drop' of multiple files is broken: I can select them, but when I click on one of them to start the drag part, it will deselect all the other ones (because since selection-user_func is reset, it will use the selection function from GtkTreeView, which works like that...). -- thunar select freezes after using mouse to select folders (detailed view mode) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520118 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 498164] Re: Xubuntu 9.10 : Can't load desktop if screen resolution is set superior to native monitor resolution
AFAICT, xsplash is probably making X segfault and the session be closed when its resolution (the default xorg one) doesn't match the user preferred one (as set in xfce4-settings). Xfce4-settings-helper (spawned by xfce4-session) restores the user preferred resolution while xsplash is running, which doesn't seem to like that. I can easily reproduce this on karmic by setting a lower resolution; unfortunately it's currently impossible to get a proper Xorg backtrace either on karmic or lucid. ** Package changed: gdm (Ubuntu) = xsplash (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xsplash (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Xubuntu 9.10 : Can't load desktop if screen resolution is set superior to native monitor resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 498193] [NEW] Please provide a way to theme gdm for derivatives
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Hi, Xubuntu Mythbuntu are also using gdm. In karmic, we used a not-so- beautiful-not-so-robust hack to theme it, using xfce4's settings manager (launched with desktop files) instead of gnome-settings-daemon. In lucid, I'm considering to use gnome-settings-daemon to improve that, but the current packaging approach is a problem. From what I could see when testing on lucid, it seems to me that the current theme, hardcoded in /var/lib/gdm/.gconf-defaults/%gconf.xml, which is shipped by gdm, cannot be overridden easily (even if I force different gconf default settings with dh_gconf in xubuntu-gdm-theme). I looked a bit in gdm*/debian/patches, and this .gconf-defaults path has been manually added for ubuntu. A possible (not so good) solution is to add as well .gconf.${derivative} to the patch... Anyway, I can probably dpkg-divert /var/lib/gdm/.gconf-defaults/%gconf.xml if needed, but this looks a bit suboptimal (and not so robust)... These two solutions have the same drawback, in that installing gdm then xubuntu-gdm-theme then mythbuntu-gdm-theme will make the theme change without user intervention. Any better idea? ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Please provide a way to theme gdm for derivatives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498193 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
