[Bug 1910464] [NEW] Error when clicking Restart & Update for OS updates

2021-01-06 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

I have pending OS updates, according to Software. However, when I hit
Restart & Update, I get the following error message:

Unable to install updates:
GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError:Quark._pk_2dengine_-2derror_2dquark.Code1:
 Prepared update not found: /var/lib/-PackageKit/prepared-update

It then attempts to restart anyway. On reboot, the pending OS updates
remain shown in Software.

I've had a persistent available update in GNOME Software for a while now
that doesn't actually install when I hit Update (although it doesn't
have any obvious failures either). It's for GNOME Application Platform

Installing and then goes back to showing as an update again.

This is because "-3" is parsed as an option to the command. You can use
"--" to signify the end of the options and pass "-3" properly like so:

[Bug 1464963] [NEW] clicking a keyboard shortcut entry locks up the whole desktop

2015-06-14 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Not sure if this is a regression, as I haven't played much with
shortcuts before. However, when you enter the Keyboard panel and click
on a shortcut that you want to change, the whole desktop locks up until
you hit the Escape key (after which everything starts working again, a
couple of seconds after hitting the key).

Furthermore, clicking one of these entries yields the following error in
the terminal (when gnome-control-center is invoked from there):

[Bug 1251811] Re: Sync gtk2-engines 1:2.20.2-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-11-16 Thread Logan Rosen
I just ran a debdiff, and this was the only difference:

$ debdiff gtk2-engines_2.20.2-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb
../pbuilder/trusty_result/gtk2-engines_2.20.2-3_amd64.deb
[The following lists of changes regard files as different if they have
different names, permissions or owners.]

Files in second .deb but not in first
-
-rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/doc/gtk2-engines/changelog.gz

It looks like the .pot file isn't even being generated in Ubuntu's
version (if it's not already in Debian's). Also, the Translations tab
is grayed out for this package, so this seems like a nonissue for me. Do
you have any insight into this?

[Bug 1241881] Re: gnome-keyring depends on transitional package libgcr-3-1

2013-10-22 Thread Logan Rosen
I added a rationale. Impact really isn't necessary here.

** Description changed:

According its package description, libgcr-3-1 version 3.8.2-4 in Saucy
Salamander is a transitional package that should be safe to remove.
However, an attempt to remove the package reveals that gnome-keyring
(version 3.8.2-0ubuntu3) depends on it. I cannot tell if removing the
dependency from gnome-keyring was forgotten or libgcr-3-1 has been
wrongfully marked as transitional, but the latter seems highly unlikely.
Either way this is a problem that should be fixed.
+
+ [Rationale]
+ People should be able to remove transitional packages without removing the
packages that depend on their replacements. This is forbidding people from
removing libgcr-3-1 without removing gnome-keyring as well.

  [Test Case]
Install the gnome-keyring package, and then try removing the transitional
libgcr-3-1 package. It forces the removal of gnome-keyring, even though
gnome-keyring should depend on libgcr-base-3-1 instead.

  [Regression Potential]
None. This is just a simple dependency change.

[Bug 1241881] Re: gnome-keyring depends on transitional package libgcr-3-1

2013-10-18 Thread Logan Rosen
Yup, this appears to be fixed by a simple rebuild of gnome-keyring. It
causes it to depend on libgcr-base-3-1 instead of libgcr-3-1. I'll try
to SRU a fix into Saucy.

+
+ [Test Case]
+ Install the gnome-keyring package, and then try removing the transitional
libgcr-3-1 package. It forces the removal of gnome-keyring, even though

[Bug 1219454] Re: ?

2013-09-03 Thread Logan Rosen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
