I vote for this bug. My Totem/VLC cannot play DVDs too. I tried my own non-encrypted DVD and it does not work too. No luck, restarted 20 times and it did not crash. Does "b76f6000+b6000" say something to you? First of all - it does not happen always, it is harder for me to reproduce. Second - the wiki page does not contain any information about how to debug GDM/XDM processes. These are very special a bit. I usually restart GDM with /etc/init.d/gdm restart but how to run it? [Bug 48907] Cant add and application launcher to panel
