RE: [Bug 1910421] Evince crashes on an unreadable nonempty postscript file owned by root

2023-02-06 Thread Md Ayquassar
Paul, I tremendously apologize for writing you this way: it seems that my
account at launchpad is gone.
The bug still exists with the current Ubuntu:
$ sudo aptitude show evince| grep Version Version: 43.0-1 $ sudo lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 22.10
Release: 22.10 Codename: kinetic
$ env | grep XDG_SESSION_TYPE XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland
Please reopen the bug report.
Thanks in advance!

2021-02-25 Thread Md. Rezwanul Haque Razib
Hi Daniel,

The problem happens again today.
I follow the instructions in comments #1 and #3, yet the issue not solved.
I'm attaching the files and screenshots if this helps you to figure out the
problem.

Note: the screenshot and rfkill.txt and iwconfig files taken while I'm
facing the issue.

Solution: Restart the pc when this problem occurs.

after restarting the network-manager-service it just reconnected to my
wifi.

Currently, While I'm connected to wifi, I'm getting the above output on the
terminal when executing `iwconfig` command. If I face the issue again I
will post the result to this mail.

[Bug 1910421] [NEW] Evince crashes on an unreadable nonempty postscript file owned by root

2021-01-06 Thread Md Ayquassar
Public bug reported:

Package: evince
Version: 3.38.0-1

I run an up-to-date groovy 20.10.

This is how to reproduce the segfault:

root@host:/tmp# rm mwe.ps
root@host:/tmp# echo "test" > mwe.ps
root@host:/tmp# chmod g-rwx,o-rwx mwe.ps
root@host:/tmp# exit
logout
user@host:/tmp$ evince mwe.ps
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

An expected outcome would be a meaningful error message instead of a
crash. Thanks in advance for repairing this bug.

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1867209] Re: evince crashes on searching in a PDF file

2020-07-02 Thread Md Ayquassar
I've tried to reproduce the issue with evince 3.36.5 that has just been
release into focal. The bug seems to be gone, at least as far as the
two PDF files from the internet (mentioned above) are concerned.

[Bug 1867209] Re: evince crashes on searching in a PDF file

2020-03-12 Thread Md Ayquassar
** Description changed:

  Package: evince
  Version: 3.34.1-1

In the up-to-date Ubuntu 19.10 "eoan", Evince crashes when searching in
a particular long PDF file. I open the file, press Ctrl+F to open a
search string box, and type in some string that occurs in the document.
Then, Evince starts searching, jumps to the first occurrence, and
displays a thin progress bar while continuing searching. Evince doesn't
terminate: about the middle of the search process, evince crashes:

  $ evince .pdf
  munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer
  Abgebrochen (Speicherabzug geschrieben)

Unfortunately, I cannot share my PDF file due to legal reasons.
However, the two files mentioned in
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/issues/1250 would do:

  - https://www.people.vcu.edu/~rhammack/BookOfProof/Main.pdf

Searching for "the" (without the quotation marks) in any of these
- documents reproducibly crashes them. I cannot debug Evince myself (and
- a package such as evince-dbg seems to be unavailable anyway) and would
- therefore kindly ask the Ubuntu folks to attract the attention of the
- developers to this issue (or bugfix it or update Evince if a solution is
- already available).

I cannot debug Evince myself (and a package such as evince-dbg seems to be
unavailable anyway) and would therefore kindly ask the Ubuntu folks to attract
the attention of the developers to this issue (or bugfix it or update Evince if
a solution is already available).

Sebastien, though the Russians the same symbol in mathematics for the
infinity, the infinity symbol ∞ itself is not Cyrillic. Have you tested
their solution, whatever it may be, simply to make sure that that's the

[Bug 1829785] [NEW] Evince: ∞ not found

2019-05-20 Thread Md Ayquassar
Public bug reported:

Package: evince
Version: 3.32.0-1ubuntu0.1

OS: Disco 19.04

How to reproduce:

1) Open the attached document in Evince
2) Select the infinity symbol ∞ (U+221E) and copy it into clipboard
3) Press Ctrl+F and paste the symbol from the clipboard into the search field
4) Observe that evince doesn't find the symbol (shows no results in the search
pane and lightens the search field red). I expect that the symbol, on the
contrary, is found (i.e., that the pane shows page 1 and some context of the
symbol).

In qpdfview and okular, the symbol is found, as well as in evince from
the current debian stable. Any bugfix?

[Bug 1791936] Re: GNOME system-monitor cpu graph color does not update or persist

2018-11-23 Thread MD
When assigning in reverse using only custom colors as you suggested (32
down to 1), it somewhat works, although not really (there are stray
colors that are not changed at all).

When assigning even somewhat out of reverse order, colors revert back to
what they were originally set to.

The colors still are not saved on exit.

Furthermore, launching from the terminal (gnome-system-monitor) reports
no errors, and one warning:

Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.avail/53-monospace-lcd-
filter.conf", line 10: Having multiple values in isn't supported
and may not work as expected

Confirmed reproduced on latest Ubuntu 18.04.1. Switching between
terminals with ctrl+alt+f1-7 does not work after initial switch and

to be resolved through reboot.

Re: [Bug 295442] Re: Nautilus/file browser freezing at home, user and root folders

2008-11-10 Thread Ron fronm MD
Like everything else I run into in linux there is the assumption on that
wiki page that I know where to do what they say to do. Clear as mud. Do
not make the assumption I know where to do things..most normal
people would start with Open X, do Y, send file Z to this
address/attach to your bug report, etc. You at least got the part about
where I send the report. The wiki page does not tell me where to do what
it says to do nor which of several to do's I should be
doing.I'm guessing the Xorg widget since Xorg is the related
process.

One HUGE turnoff for Windows users trying to migrate to linux is the
blanket assumption by linux types we know where to do things or can read
shorthand like go to ~/.wine instead of saying to a new user go to
~/.wine, ~ means root folder, linux people assume everyone just
automatically knows that as soon as linux boots.

I really would like to help but people continuing to assume I know how
and where to do things is seriously starting to tick me off. Start at
the beginning with step 1, not the second, third or fourth step. Also
learn to index the documentation, wading through page after page, after
page of stuff I do not need to know is pointless, being able to find in
a proper index the subject I want to learn about is the way to get me to
read stuff.
