[Bug 286631] Re: libgstreamer0.10-0(0.10.18-4ubuntu2) causes movie players to close
It seems that when something concerning the media players is updated or reinstalled, it works after logging in one time. Before logging out and after logging in the second time, it does not, however. Please help me fix this, because I simply can't watch videos. Confirmed the same problem with DVD's. When trying to open in gxine, this error message appears: Fatal error Segmentation fault When I choose to close that error message, gxine closes like the rest of the programs. [Bug 286631] Re: libgstreamer0.10-0(0.10.18-4ubuntu2) causes movie players to close
Problem also affects avi and mpg files. It hasn't worked in two days, now. Today, however, I got an error message when using the YouTube plugin for Totem, instead of it merely closing. It read: _ An error occurred ffdemux_swf: Element doesn't implement handling of this stream. Please file a bug. _ With 3gp, avi, and mpg files, totem and VLC simply close. With YouTube plugin, I get the above error. Still need help with the backtrace. Today, I've restarted about 5 times, and it didn't work once. I also installed Totem (Xine), and experienced the same problem there. As for the backtrace, I need to solve another problem with yelp-dbgsym. It happened again, so it is obviously not solved. I installed the package -> it worked restarted -> it worked restarted again -> didn't work restarted yet again -> worked. As mentioned earlier, I can't backtrace, because I can't install yelp-dbgsym=2.22.1-0ubuntu2.8.04.1. [Bug 286631] Re: libgstreamer0.10-0(0.10.18-4ubuntu2) causes move players to close
In the process of back tracing, I installed libgstreamer0.10-0 (0.10.18-4ubuntu2). And now the problem seems to be solved. Sorry for the incorrect bug report. For the record: My graphics card is ATI readon X1950 Pro with CCC driver 8.5 Desktop effects turned off. Also, when I followed the guide for back tracing, I stopped at "sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym=2.22.1-0ubuntu2.8.04.1", because this step depends on yelp (=2.22.1-0ubuntu2) but 2.22.1-0ubuntu2.8.04.3 is installed and necessary for a lot of other programs (such as FireFox 3). In other words, you can't really install yelp-dbgsym... ** Description changed: Binary package hint: libgstreamer0.10-0 + + [SEEMS TO BE SOLVED] Ubuntu 8.04.1 libgstreamer0.10-0 (0.10.18-4ubuntu2) was automatically marked for upgrade (previous was libgstreamer0.10-0 (0.10.18-4ubuntu1)), and after installed, (at least) Totem and VLC simply close when starting a video.
