[Bug 1970470] [NEW] Loading circle takes some time to disappear on Flatpak apps

2022-04-26 Thread Manu Romero
Public bug reported:

When opening a Flatpak app, it opens as usual, but even when it's
already open, the loading circle in the top panel doesn't dissapear
until some time (~10 sec). As a side effect, the app takes long time to
show up in the dock.

If I open the app via `flatpak run app` in terminal, this issue does not
occur. It only happens when opening it from the app drawer or the search
function in Activities.

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Package version: 42.0-2ubuntu1

Expected to happen: The loading circle on the top panel should disappear as
soon as the app loads when it's launched from the app drawer.
What happened: The loading circle remains a few seconds and that leads to the
app icon not showing in the dock.

Hardware:
* CPU: Intel Core i7-7500U
* RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2133 MHz
* GPU: Intel HD Graphics 620 (using the Wayland session)

[Bug 1615862] Re: nautilus file copy dialog does not always close properly on completion

2017-09-04 Thread Tonton Manu
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1610200 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610200

On my config, the 'Moved/Copied' dialog is not detached from the nautilus
windows, but it remains displayed on all nautilus windows, including those I
open after the copy/move operation is finished.
The copy bar also remains on the Unity icon.
It only disappears when I close all nautilus windows opened. Then, I can open
new nautilus window and the copy/move dialog doesn't appear anymore.

This problem seems to appear when I copy many files in one time, or big
files.

This bug also affects 12.04 (x86 + x64) version of Ubuntu. I can't find the
authentication option as I did in Ubuntu 11.04, for example.
The dconf-editor workaround may work (modifying env var as well), but it's not
satisfying as everybody can read the password.

[Bug 576639] [NEW] Thunderbird 3.04 crashing with Ubuntu 10.04

Public bug reported:

I installed Thunderbird 3.04 from the Ubuntu 10.04 Software Center. It worked
but looked strange (some items not displaying).
I uninstalled and reinstalled with Synaptic. When I launch the program I get
Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window,
you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system.
I completely removed the program with Synpatic and manually installed the

[Bug 219740] Re: the tasks list is not displaying some entries

2008-04-21 Thread manu
It had only happened with Terminal, but now it has just happened with
Synaptic. I don't really know what triggers it. All I have to do is to
open an application (Terminal, through the Panel; Synaptic through the
Main Menu), and then it happens. But, as I said above, it does not
always happen.

I'm using the standard configuration. I've got this issue since I fresh-
installed Hardy few days ago.

What follows is the content of the last lines of my .xsession-errors
right after this problem happened with Synaptic. As far as I know, none
of them seem to be relevant to this issue.

[Bug 219740] [NEW] Sometimes the Window List does not show the terminal

2008-04-19 Thread manu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Sometimes, when I open the Terminal, some space is allocated for it on
the Window List (I have the Expand option unmarked on Panel Properties),
but the relevant button does not show up. It happens very randomly, so I
haven't really found a way to reproduce it, but it has happened quite a
number of times since I started using Hardy.

Also, as can be seen on screenshot that is attached to this report, the
selected button on the Window List is the one referring to the Ubuntu
Help Center, even though the focused window is the Terminal.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, and gnome-panel version is 1:2.22.1.2-0ubuntu3.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 16454] Re: Sound still comes out of speakers when PCM volume is set to 0.

2007-09-22 Thread manu
What's very curious about this is you can get some weird behavior.
Open up a movie in totem, then turn your system volume to 0. You'll
still hear sound. But, strangely, that sound will then get quieter
when you lower the totem volume, even though in theory everything
 should be muted.

What is so strange? Two cases that may explain that behaviour:

* Alsamixer does not have a clue what is the maximum/minimum volume of
the device. So setting volume ~0 does not actually sets the device to
the minimum volume.

* Alsamixer defines incorrectly the relation between the master and PCM.
That is, huge changes in the master may result in small changes in PCM
volume: you change master from 50% to 0% (mixer) volume, but the PCM
goes from 50% to 25% (real) volume.

From the age of the bug the only thing that can be concluded is that

[Bug 78510] file dialog cuts filename

2007-01-09 Thread manu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox

Steps to reproduce:

1. Attach a file in gmail by clicking on browse. A file selection dialog (File
Upload) appears.
2. Write on location the path to a file which will be auto-completed as you
write. Use a filename that shares the beginning of the name with other files in
the same directory. For example, foo/barbarbar and foo/barfoobar
3. When the filename you are looking for appears completed in the location bar
press enter.
4. The filename selected will be foo/bar which does not correspond to any
existing file.

OK. I will do it myself. I have just reproduced the bug in Synaptic, so
I guess that it is a general GTK bug.

(Argh, I am looking forward to the day that applications will use the
dialogs of the DE they are running on, instead of the particular toolkit
they use to show their GUI, or at least a firefox version using KDE
dialogs.)

2007-01-03 Thread Manu Cornet
Thanks for your feedback. We're gonna need a bit more information to
figure out what the problem is. What exactly do you mean by tried using
the e-mail? Did you open an application? Using the menus? A panel
shortcut? Command-line? Are you talking about the Evolution email
program? Where did the broken pipe message appear? In a dialog? On the
command-line? Was there any other information along with this message?

[Bug 60345] Re: Add to Panel... assumes and hard-codes font sizes

2007-01-03 Thread Manu Cornet
Ok, there seems to be nothing wrong with the layout code itself, but the
add to panel dialog doesn't seem to be aware of the new font size fast
enough. I have just tried this:

1. Change the application font to 16
2. Open the add to dialog, the fonts are all mixed up
3. killall gnome-panel
4. Open the dialog again: everything looks fine (fonts, rounded rectangles,
etc.)

I need to find out how to notify the dialog about the font change.

[Bug 27170] Desktop doesn't seem to get focus when switching virtual desktops

2006-10-16 Thread Manu Cornet
Public bug reported:

Here's a short test :

1) Get one of your virtual desktop completely clean by closing all windows on
it, so that the desktop appears.
2) Create a new folder on the desktop, name it blah. Or bloh.
3) Click on the folder to make sure it is selected. If you want to delete this
folder, you can just press the Del key (test now if you're unsure).
4) Switch to another virtual desktop, then back to this one. The folder seems be
still be selected.
5) Press the Del key to delete the folder : nothing happens.

What should happen : the desktop should get the focus back, and one shouldn't
need to click again on the icon to get the folder selected.

I am using an up-to-date breezy, not sure which package I should file this
against, though (nautilus ? lbwnck ? ).

[Bug 55575] Re: Lock Screen/Switch User can't use

2006-09-11 Thread Manu Cornet
I can confirm this. Having checked the Enable accessible login
checkbox that bstqc_ostl mentions, then Quit--Switch user, it seems to
prepare to load the usual GDM greeter, but then immediately switches to
the password-protected dialog to return to the session I just quit.

Disabling the accessibility checkbox restores the desired behavior.

[Bug 57962] Re: Icons visualization problem in add-to-panel dialog

2006-08-28 Thread Manu Cornet
I can confirm this (up-to-date edgy) -- the missing pixel line is on the
left (not on the right) here.

Not sure where this comes from. The icons themselves look fine, for
example /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/deskbar-applet.png

A clue: maybe the default icon size for the dialog is not a standard one
(it seems to take the 48 versions of icons, but they're definitely not
displayed that big), and the resizing is not optimal?

[Bug 57218] Bad placing of the copy string while drag-copying files with a dot in their name

2006-08-22 Thread Manu Cornet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Steps to reproduce:

* Create a new file on the desktop, name it a.b.txt

* Drag-copy (Ctrl-drag) to somewhere else on the desktop.

* The new copied file is called a (copy).b.txt, where it should be a.b
(copy).txt

This can happen especially in filenames with version, such as
document-2.6, etc.

[Bug 16454] Re: sound still comes out of speakers when PCM volume is set to 0

2006-08-16 Thread manu
@Daniel T Chen

I urge you to reconsider your decision. The user case is clear:

I am listening to music (not to a CD, not to sound from the input line,
it is PCM output). The volume is controlled by the PCM slide. Moving the
slide to 0 does not turn the volume off.

I know how to unmute and mute, thanks. That is not the point. Setting
the volume slide to 0 should do precisely that: set the volume level to
zero. Otherwise there is something odd with the relation between the
volume slide value and the actual volume.

All this applies to amixer, so it is an issue with ALSA, not gnome.

Finally, although I have already explained why muting/unmuting is not
the point here, it is worth metioning the following: Yes, you are right
Muting PCM does not automatically imply that _all_ output should be
muted. However, muting PCM DOES imply that all output THROUGH PCM
should be muted. Or are you saying that muting the CD output does not
imply that all the output from the CD should be muted?

Therefore, please, revert the status back to Confirmed.

[Bug 16454] Re: sound still comes out of speakers when PCM volume is set to 0

2006-08-16 Thread manu
@Dave Gilbert

Volume 0 is the same as mute. If it is not now, then it should be.
Clearly, gnome people understand this: if the volume is zero they show
the muted icon.

That said, feel free to reopen bug 24090. You may also ask directly to
GNOME people (http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319139) whether they
think this is a bug in gnome or in alsa.
