(probally gedit will crash) 5. when the folder collapse, expand it again. 6. repeat steps 3 to 5 till gedit crashes. [Bug 794512] Re: evince prints garbage with PDF files
Thanks for the information (yes, liboppler was a typo). So the permission denied problem seems indeed occur because of apparmor. You could try to temporarily disable the apparmor profile as described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingApparmor#Debugging_procedure For both of your problems, I still think they are possibly already fixed and do occur in your installation because of outdated packages. Try to make sure (e.g. by sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade) that you really have the most recent packages installed. For example, your libpoppler-glib5 package is still 0.14.3-0ubuntu1 instead of 0.14.3-0ubuntu1.2 and evince-common (this contains the apparmor profile) was -- at the time when you reported the bug -- at 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 instead of 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/794512 Title: evince prints garbage with PDF files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/794512/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

When you say the problem occurs only with print preview -- do you mean that you can print and print to file without problem? Just to make sure that there is not problem with the poppler version: Could you run apt-cache policy liboppler* in a terminal and attach the output here? The problem with the printing from print preview could have something to do with apparmor. Is your home directory is in any way special, e.g. on an NFS share, on a NTFS-formatted drive, ...? What does work however is using tan-¹ by typing tan and then pressing Ctrl+I for inversion. Re: [Bug 817709] Re: missing buttons: pi, arcsin, arccos, arctan, arsinh, ...
Thanks for the hint with Ctrl+I, it works well. However, it is a hidden feature and I think it is not accessible enough. There should be a non- shortcut way to activate this function. Either a menu item or a button ^-1. Well, there is a x-¹ button which does the same as Ctrl+I… Allowing arcsin to be entered manually would be nice as well. Yes, I agree. As I said before, the documentation says that it is possible to enter asin which does however not work. So what about making the report specifically about this issue (and suggest arcsin instead of/in addition to asin which is more a programming language name)? I'd like to add, that sin⁻¹(x) is not a very nice notation because it conflicts with sin²(x) witch, I think, is much more common. Actually I do think it is ok as it is, IMO most people will read sin⁻¹(x) as arcsin and sin²(x) as the square of the function value -- to me the latter always felt more wrong (why not just write sin(x)² ?). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817709 Title: missing buttons: pi, arcsin, arccos, arctan, arsinh,... [Bug 388550] Re: Can't change default calendar view
Actually, the bug you reported in bug #805114 seems to be fixed in evolution 3.1.2 (the current version in Oneiric): If you are in the work week view and change the month in the little calendar in the left sidebar, the view remains in work week mode. The same is true for the month and the list view, the week view however always switches to the day view. The OP in this bug report did not mention changing months but selecting a specific day from the calendar -- this still always changes the view into day view. I'll update the upstream bug accordingly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388550 Title: Can't change default calendar view To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/388550/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 388550] Re: Can't change default calendar view
No, that is not true. I just tested the work week view, clicked change month in the little calendar to the left and ended up in day view! Did you test using version 3.1.2 in Oneiric? That's the version I used, you previously mentioned version 3.0.2. There's even another strange behavior to see: when you enable week numbers (shown in the little calendar), select work week view and then click on the week numbers, you stay in work week view - that is correct. But clicking next month then (only when week numbers is enabled!!) you end up in the next month, but the shown week (still work week view) is something like Wednesday to Tuesday or Thursday to Wednesday - but NOT Monday through Sunday anymore! Could you report this as a new bug, please (or better first check whether it has already been reported)? Could somebody please just see how Outlook does this? That would be correct behavior! This kind of comment does not really help -- in many regards Outlook's behaviour is far away from correct and simply copying Outlook is certainly not what evolution's developers are trying to achieve.

[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
I'm reverting the bug status back to Incomplete for now, until someone can test whether the bug still exists in the current development release of Ubuntu. Before trying to fix bugs in older releases it is always sensible to first look whether it is already fixed in a newer release -- if it is, it makes sense to backport this fix. BTW: You do not need an installation of Oneiric (or Natty) to test, you can test it running it from an USB stick, for example. I marked another bug as a duplicate of this bug, I'm copying my comment from there which might be helpful for you: There are two different settings: Switching off the screen after a certain time (that is what you set with Put display to sleep when inactive for and uses hh:mm values) and dim the screen when idle. The latter setting does not care for the time you set but uses a standard value of 10 seconds. You can change this value using gconf-editor ( /apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight/idle_dim_time ). I agree that this is not user-friendly and apparently also against what the documentation says. Finally, regarding your comment Testing on new releases is a task I expect you, the vendor, to perform. Your use of the term vendor implies you paid for Ubuntu, I'd therefore suggest you raise this report in the respective channel of your support provider (e.g. if you are a subscriber of Canonical's Ubuntu Home Support, log in to the online support portal at https://landscape.canonical.com/) ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 Title: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/513468/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 795795] Re: Overlay scrollbar in evolution's message preview pane does not appear on approach (only on hover)
As I previously confirmed the issue, I take the liberty to answer the question: In the upper right part (message list) of the evolution window, the scrollbar behaves as in other applications -- as soon as you approach the scrollbar the thumb appears when you are a couple of pixels away. This is different in the lower part (message preview), here the scrollbar appears only when you hover over the scrollbar itself, not if you are still some pixels away. I'll try to make a screenshot showing this. ** Changed in: overlay-scrollbar (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/795795 Title: In evolution's message preview pane the overlay scrollbar thumb does not appear on approach (only on hover) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-scrollbar/+bug/795795/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 795388] Re: GEdit doesn't guess the encoding if file is opened with doubleclick
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I cannot reproduce this problem in Ubuntu 11.04 -- what version of Ubuntu/gedit are you using? When I double click on a file with cyrillic letters saved in Windows-1251 it is opened correctly. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected.
