[Bug 962369] Re: Cannot set Device name (hostname) under Details section in System Settings on 12.04
That should be all you need to do Andy. You shouldn't have problems if you set those there unless you have a DNS server, in which case you should update those records too. Checks your /etc/nsswitch.conf file for the hosts line and check it has files and dns in that order, then your machine will use its /etc/hosts file before looking it up using DNS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962369 Title: Cannot set Device name (hostname) under Details section in System Settings on 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/962369/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 944673] [NEW] Appplication Menu Integration option that was in the deisgns for 12.04 are missing
Public bug reported: The Application Menu Integration option mentioned in the designs here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ILTJDiDCd25Npt2AmgzF8aOnZZECxTfM0hvsbWT2BxA/edit?hl=en_GB on Page 8 have not appeared in my settings yet and I know quite a few people that are waiting for this functionality. This better suits power users (and those migrating from Windows) as it allows people to use Focus Follows Mouse and means a faster interface as users do not need to travel to the top of the screen to access the menu every time. I understand it's consistent having the menu at the top and that should stay as the default but the option to turn it off is quite important to a lot of people and I think missing this from 12.04 would be a mistake. I know the UI has gone into a freeze now but it is in the designs which have also been frozen so is it likely to make an appearance soon? If not then I would be interested to know why it has been dropped. [Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04
@nuthinking Ok. Out of interest, what ever happened to the launcher size bar because my latest update appears to have removed it completely from the options? [Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04
@nuthinking Ah ok, that's why then, I switched to Unity 2d. Also, the designs show the menu integration option but I don't see that in the Appearance options on my system and I know a few people were looking forward to that. What happened to that one? [Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04
Just had a look at the update and I have to say the System Settings looks a lot better now that the icons have been redone to a larger size. Impressive stuff! It reads much better with the name Appearance and look. I take it the decision not to move the launcher icon size into the Universal Access section was on purpose? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918580 Title: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/918580/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04
I personally think that the Launcher icon size should stay in the first tab (if it's staying in the Appearence settings and not moving to Universal Access) as it doesn't actually change any behavioral aspects of the launcher.
[Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04
That's a good idea. Would it also be a good idea to inclue the Universal Access symbol next to the button somewhere to help people identify it? I was just thinking that it might be good to keep all links to areas consistent with their symbols. What do you think? I don't know if that would look ok on a panel like that.
