[Bug 498434] Re: No graphical way to allow TCP logins to Xserver in gdmsetup. No alternate method documented.

2010-05-18 Thread Mark Sobell
Fix works in 10.04.

I created a file named /etc/gdm/custom.conf with the following contents
on a server named lynx1:

[security]
DisallowTCP=false

I then rebooted lynx1.

From another system I gave the following commands

$ export DISPLAY=lynx1:0.0
$ xeyes

The eyes appeared on lynx1.

When I removed the custom.conf file and rebooted, I got the following
message when I ran xeyes:

$ xeyes
Error: Can't open display: lynx1:0.0

[Bug 129152] Re: cannot set number or name of workspaces from workspace switcher applet

2007-08-06 Thread Mark Sobell
Problem is there with Normal effects and Extra effects.
The problem is not there with No effects.

That is, the Workspace Switcher Preferences window includes the
Workspaces section (Number of workspaces and Workspace names) with No
effects selected. The Workspaces section is missing when effects are
selected.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Appearance Preferences window, Background tab, needs No Wallpaper selection.
Without a No Wallpaper selection you cannot set the desktop background to a
solid color.

[Bug 130541] Re: [Gutsy] Cannot set desktop background to a solid color

2007-08-06 Thread Mark Sobell
Just my point! There is no No Wallpaper selection as there is in Feisty. Thus
I cannot see the color.
Please see the attached picture of the Appearance Preferences window,
Background tab. Thanks.

[Bug 129275] Main Menu - Edit Menu window: New Menu New Item buttons do not work

2007-07-30 Thread Mark Sobell
Public bug reported:

Gutsy Tribe 3: Right click the menu bar and select Edit Menus.
GNOME displays the Main Menu window.
Click New Menu button. The button dims momentarily but does not open the
Directory Properties menu as it does under Feisty.
The New Item button has no effect either.

[Bug 129275] Re: Main Menu - Edit Menu window: New Menu New Item buttons do not work

2007-07-30 Thread Mark Sobell
Well, they do work. Only they open the new windows under other windows (so I
did not see them).
I meant Directory Properties window (not menu) in my original post.

[Bug 129275] Re: Main Menu - Edit Menu window: New Menu New Item buttons do not work

2007-07-30 Thread Mark Sobell
Yup, Update Manager says my system is up to date. Did you see the second
part of my post wherein I say the buttons work but the windows they
display appear under other windows on the Workspace? If you have not
already done so, open a large window and then go through the steps I
describe. Can you see the small window the New Menu/Item buttons
display? Other than that I do not know what to say...Thanks for your
prompt response.

[Bug 129164] Would like a timer on Dim display when idle

2007-07-29 Thread Mark Sobell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

The Dim display when idle in the Power Management Preferences window,
On AC Power and On Battery Power tabs, is a nice feature. However, it
dims the display too quickly for my taste. It would be nice to be able
to select a period of time before it dims, say from 5 seconds to 5
minutes. Maybe just specify a number of seconds from 5 to 600 seconds.
Thanks.
