ٔNo it seems that an applet was crashing, as after a few minutes gnome panel
displayed an error message and asked me to remove the applet, and then
everything went back to normal.

did you run it trough sudo ? looks like the permissions were changed
thus you cannot run it, may you please check the permissions of the
binary and see if you're in the right group? also please test with a new
user created on your system, thanks.

Re: [Bug 789169] Re: Gnome panel fails to start

2011-05-30 Thread Mehdi Fattahi
The panel failed to start. Icons on the desktop kept moving up and down, and
this indicated that the panel was partially starting, reserving the space at
the top of the screen, end exiting continuously. I killed the panel process.
Suddenly it appeared, displaying a message that an applet was crashing. It
asked me to delete the applet. I did. The panel has worked flawlessly since
then.

problem.

I wonder if compiling the unpatched version of g-s-d my work. Will that
break compatibility with ubuntu indicators and notifications?

2010-10-11 Thread Mehdi Fattahi
Oops! i already have 2.32.0-0ubuntu4 and I still experience the bug! The
only way I could write this comment is by issuing killall gnome-
settings-daemon! When I run gnome-settings-daemon the bug appears
immediately!

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes + 100% CPU usage [updated]

2010-10-09 Thread Mehdi Fattahi
Who's supposed to change the priority of this bug? Ubuntu is going to be
released in 24 hours and it has such a bug that renders the system
completely unusable. Is this low-priority?

2010-10-09 Thread Mehdi Fattahi
@Simos To be honest I'm not 100% sure the two bugs are the same. Let's
forget about arch to avoid confusion. This bug does exist in ubuntu.
Thanks for your kind help. I'll compare the files to see if the fix went
into ubuntu and post the result here.

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes + 100% CPU usage [updated]

2010-10-08 Thread Mehdi Fattahi
Same problem here. Ubuntu 10.10 RC. I have USA and Persian keyboard layouts. I
filed a bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/656988 because I was
not sure it's a duplicate of this bug. My friends using Arch and Gentoo are
also reporting similar problems, so the problem might not be distro-specific.
Some people told me this bug has been fixed in Xorg 1.9.2.
Anyway this is a very annoying bug which could prevent many users from using
ubuntu 10.10 at all.

I think low-priority state for this bug is not correct. This is a
critical bug. Many users cannot type in their native language.
