[Bug 1567565] Re: Permission error saving a file

2017-12-19 Thread MichaelB
Just test it with Ubuntu 17.10 (Evince 3.26.0) and problem persist!

It is impossible to SAVE (overwrite) the opened pdf file when this file
is in a CIFS mount point (fstab). It appear a permission error.. and
much more bad, the file is totally erased!!

Please correct this problem.. and for the upcoming 18.04 LTS.

Thanks!
Michael

[Bug 1567565] Re: Permission error saving a file

2017-05-29 Thread MichaelB
So in my case it doesn't work with this workaround because i use a CIFS
mount directly in fstab. :(

Someone can propose another workaround that work with cifs file mounted
in fstab??

Thanks!

[Bug 1567565] Re: Permission error saving a file

2017-05-29 Thread MichaelB
Same problem here, all our files are on a NAS (cifs share). Ubuntu 16.04
/ Evince 3.18.2

When we want to "edit" a pdf file with evince (create annotation in my
case) and overwrite the file.. is not possible, i got the same error
"Error renaming temporary file: Permission denied". So we still work
with Adobe Acrobat PRO by example and this is stupid because this
functionality work great with local file in evince.

I'll test the workaround proposed by Alex D (owner /**/.goutputstream-*
rw)

[Bug 1052446] [NEW] Unable to open files after system wakeup - INFO: task acroread:5935 blocked for more than 120 seconds.

2012-09-18 Thread MichaelB
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a big problem on Ubuntu 12.04.1 with acroread, evince, gedit,
etc. This happen after the wakeup (system was suspend)

If i click to open a pdf file in my exemple, acroread open but freezed
for some minutes. If i open the document with evince, nothing appear but
process is running. After some minutes document appear to the screen...
like is unblocked...

In /var/log/syslog appear that:

Sep 11 15:28:28 dir1-desktop kernel: [13523.711071] INFO: task acroread:5935
blocked for more than 120 seconds.
Sep 11 15:28:28 dir1-desktop kernel: [13523.711075] "echo 0 >

Sep 11 15:28:28 dir1-desktop kernel: [13523.711087] 880120f49700

Is just not usable like that because the system have to use suspend mode. I
don't know if is a Kernel problem or CIFS.

Thanks,
Michael

gedit 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 is the latest version and i didn't see a new one
in proposed..

I read the comment #5 and i tested something..

My default setting "auto_detect" encoding start with ISO-8859-1 and with this
gedit crash when a new empty file is created.
If a change this setting with "auto_detect" UTF-8 is OK i can open a empty file
without crash

This bug affect lucid too..

How to duplicate:

- Create a new empty file on the desktop (right click -> create empty document)
exemple -> test.txt
- Double click on the file -> gedit crash / same thing happen if you open this
file from gedit

I got this line in /var/log/messages:
