[Bug 296900] [NEW] Usenet subscription broken

2008-11-11 Thread Mike Humphrey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.10
It's not possible to subscribe to Usenet groups in most hierarchies - small
ones work, but anything with more than 20-30 subgroups fail.
To reproduce, create a Usenet account. Select Folder, subscriptions, then the
account just created. Select to expand a top-level group with lots of
subgroups, suck as "news" or "uk". Two sub-items of "Loading..." appear.
Nothing else happens. The program is not obviously doing anything, no excessive
CPU or disk activity etc. You can un-expand the top level and expand it again,
and it retains the same two sub-items. If you click the check-box next to
either of them, Evolution exits with a segmentation fault. There is no way to
access the actual sub-items of these top level items. It also happens in
second-level items - e.g. expanding "comp" works, but "comp.os" has the problem
described.
