[Bug 1899275] [NEW] no icon placement option on desktop
Public bug reported: Im surprised that this has not been reported before: Using GNOME-Flashback under Ubuntu 20.04 it seems impossible to place the icons on the desktop according to my choice. Also I can find no way of replacing an icon image (the "picture") with something of my own choosing. This was definitely possible in previous versions. The present situation is most inconvenient. Problems carry over to 14.04 Trying alacarte and menulibre I can create a new folder, e.g. Documentation or Backup, but cannot move items into the folder, so that it remains invisible. In alacarte and in menulibre I see folders (Sundry, Utilities, Web develpment) which include items, but do not show up when I click on Applications. I can't be the only one this is happening to! Also -- what seems to be a byproduct of not having a screensaver: If I click on Guest Login I am sent to a new login, for user guest. However, when guest exits (logs out) the session returns to my original session *without requesting a password*!! If I only get back to my desktop a couple of hours later, either mouse movement or keyboard action stops screen saver, and I am left with a blank screen, mouse cursor still shows, but no icons or panels. Only way out is via power cycle. Tried changing USB keyboard to PS2 - no improvement. This did not happen under 8.04. Only workaround I found was to uninstall both gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver.
