[Bug 62949]
We're open to improving the UX in the future to allow directly triggering exposed global actions, rather than just keyboard shortcuts. But that's an improvement for the existing feature, so I'd recommend that someone submit a new feature request Bugzilla ticket to track it. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62949 Title: No way to configure mouse button number To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdelibs/+bug/62949/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 62949]
Most of those actions are exposed globally, and either have a keyboard shortcut bound to them by default, or you can bind one yourself. And you can also assign arbitrary shell scripts to global keyboard shortcuts. Then you can bind a mouse button to the keyboard shortcut used to trigger any of those actions. So the ability is there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62949 Title: No way to configure mouse button number To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdelibs/+bug/62949/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 299158] Re: DejaVu, Liberation Mono, Noto Mono, Tlwg Mono, Oxygen Mono, Bitstream Vera Mono: Combining diacritics out of place
This is a problem even at the desktop level. With the gnome desktop font set to the default 'Ubuntu 11' if I use an app (gImageReader in my case, see also https://github.com/manisandro/gImageReader/issues/613) to write certain decomposed characters (e.g. \u0069\u0300), they are not properly combined on the screen. This is a bad user experience. I've switched to 'DejaVu Sans 11' as a workaround, as it seems to handle everything correctly so far. However, the related DejaVu Sans Mono Book still messes this up (e.g. in gnome-terminal and gedit), but on different combined characters. So for monospace needs I've found FreeMono to cover the most ground (pkg: fonts-freefont-ttf). Try this, while switching between the default gnome-terminal font (Ubuntu Mono?) and DejaVu Sans Mono Book: $ echo -e '\u0069\u0300\u0020\u0254\u0327' ì ɔ̧ The ì renders correctly while the open o + cedilla doesn't, both here and with the terminal font set to DejaVu Sans Mono Book, but if you switch to the default font in the terminal the open o + cedilla renders correctly while the ì renders with both the dot and the grave accent on top of each other, rather than the dot disappearing like it should. I would guess that the related font definitions (Ubuntu Regular/Mono, DejaVu Sans Mono, possibly others) are simply incomplete when it comes to these less common character combinations. font-manager has been very helpful for side-by-side comparisons of sample text in multiple fonts. ** Bug watch added: github.com/manisandro/gImageReader/issues #613 https://github.com/manisandro/gImageReader/issues/613 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to fonts-noto in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299158 Title: DejaVu, Liberation Mono, Noto Mono, Tlwg Mono, Oxygen Mono, Bitstream Vera Mono: Combining diacritics out of place To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-dejavu/+bug/299158/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1898914] [NEW] Ubuntu Dock Creates Stutter in Swarm Animation
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Version: 20.04 Package: gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock v. 68ubuntu1~20.04.1 Expected behavior: Swarm animation runs smoothly when launching application grid. Actual behavior: Swarm animation stutters when application icons align to grid. The "swarm" animation, which runs when opening the application grid, glitches and stutters at the moment that the application icons align to their grid positions. This is at the very end of the animation, and only occurs when Ubuntu dock is enabled. When the Ubuntu dock is disabled, the animation runs smoothly. [Bug 1873483] [NEW] Screensaver locks when advancing to YouTube's next autoplay video
Public bug reported: So I'm watching YouTube videos, and I have autoplay enabled, so when it gets to the end of one, it lingers for a moment then jumps right into another. While watching a video, the screensaver is inhibited, as it should be. Because most of these videos are considerably longer than my lock period. But during that jump, there's an instant where there isn't technically a video playing, and since I haven't touched the keyboard in a while, BAM, the screensaver springs into action. And I'm sitting here during the intro of the next video, listening to the theme and narrator, and going "Well that's interesting, is he leading with a black screen for some narrative reason?" until I bump the mouse and there's my lockscreen... In this situation, the end of the video-is-playing status should have a moment of holdoff before killing the screen, in case another video starts playing a few milliseconds later. [Bug 1773959] Re: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal
I've noticed the same issue with all extensions disabled. It seems very correlated with changes on the screen, to include moving the mouse. I've watched 'top' over an SSH connection to the system running gnome. If I have just a terminal window open any updates in that window cause gnome- shell CPU to jump to 7-9% CPU for a couple seconds (according to top which is updating every second on a remote shell). The updates and activities I've tested so far that seem to show this behavior are: - moving the mouse around on the screen - typing any amount of text in the open terminal window - having top running in the open terminal window. I'm guessing there is something in gnome-shell copying the screen to a buffer, and, after some period of inactivity it decreases its rate of copying... perhaps? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773959 Title: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1773959/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Other times on startup the icons will not show and will persist through the life of the program. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990951 Title: Empathy Messenger 3.4.1: avatars not showing [Windows Live protocol] [Ubuntu 12.04] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/990951/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 732410] [NEW] flac decoding is broken in some manner for gstreamer
Public bug reported: This bug leads to poor performance and poor audio quality. Audio quality issues involve popping sounds, scratch sounds, pausing, silence, and other sound quality issues with any application that uses gstreamer. These applications include totem, banshee, nautilus (audio preview), and gst123. It sounds like the audio is cutting out, as if the one of the volume sliders was cranked way too high or something like that. The symptoms manifest themselves as buffer underruns or poor performance with pusleaudio. It seems that pulseaudio must continuously loop back to correct sound issues. This is not noticeable when using pulseaudio in it's default configuration as it's able to compensate for you. Probably the same for Alsa. When I am using the a52 alsa plugin to send audio to a receiver over SPDIF, however I have poor audio performance. The problem appears to still exist regardless, but it is masked. Originally I thought it was Banshee that was causing the poor audio performance. Then I traced it down to pulseaudio, but now I believe it's a issues with gstreamer itself. While searching for existing bugs I noticed a number of gstreamer applications that are exhibiting poor behavior when using flac, but it is not apparent why this is. I may have located it. The reason why I think it's a bug with gstreamer and not pulseaudio is because I can play the same files just perfectly using non-gstreamer applications like VLC or mplayer. I can also re-encode flac files as Ogg Vorbis files and they play just fine. I understand that playing through the a52 encoder plugin is not a supported configuration, but I think it's just making the problems surface and not the core cause of the issue. When selecting 'Analog Stereo Output' and while running 'pulseaudio -vv' I receive copious amounts of output that resemble this: D: sink-input.c: Have to rewind 1036 bytes on implementor. D: source.c: Processing rewind... D: protocol-native.c: Underrun on ''Where the Devil Don't Stay' by 'Drive-By Truckers'', 0 bytes in queue. D: protocol-native.c: Requesting rewind due to rewrite. This output is continuous and flies up the xterm at a fast rate. Using this command with 'gst123 ; killall pulseaudio' in another terminal produced 530 of those messages over the course of a 1 minute and 4 second audio sample: $ pulseaudio -vv 21 | grep D: alsa-sink.c: Rewound |wc 5302650 19024 The same audio converted to 64Kb/s Ogg Vorbis creates this output: $ pulseaudio -vv 21 | grep D: alsa-sink.c: Rewound |wc 4 20 149 The same flac file converted to wav output produced this: $ pulseaudio -vv 21 | grep D: alsa-sink.c: Rewound |wc 4 20 149 Which seems identical to the Ogg Vorbis output. The files are: $ file 01\ Where\ the\ Devil\ Don\'t\ Stay.* 01 Where the Devil Don't Stay.flac: FLAC audio bitstream data, 16 bit, stereo, 44.1 kHz, 14074368 samples 01 Where the Devil Don't Stay.ogg: Ogg data, Vorbis audio, stereo, 44100 Hz, ~64000 bps, created by: Xiph.Org libVorbis I 01 Where the Devil Don't Stay.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 44100 Hz The song is normally 5 minutes long, but I cut it short to 1 minute. This is not the only file, of course, I tested several other flac, ogg, wav, and mp3 files and only flac created this issue. The above was duplicated using multiple audio devices, too. Devices exhibiting the same output as above are: * HP USB audio headset * Logitech G330 USB headset (I recommend this product, btw.) * RealTech ALC889 Intel HD Audio onboard device (analog out) Devices that had different output, but had errors: * Sony Bluetooth headset (Sounded fine, but with 1-2 second pauses every 10-20

[Bug 517925] Re: The help files won't print
Hello Mitch and Charlie, Thanks for your work on this. However, now I've just installed Lucid and am very frustrated to see that this issue is still not fixed -- at least on my installation. In fact, it's worse, as neither the workaround above nor the print preview work. Can you replicate this in Lucid? However, something really irregular happened -- I was able to print one help page, but then the print function stopped working after that first page. My workaround is to cut and paste into another text editor, but that's a pain because I lose the formatting (i.e., the table indentations). Incidentally, is there a reason why the help files aren't on HTML, so that they can be printed from any HTML browser? Or is this a GNOME issue that you have no control over? Thanks so much for your help. I'm still very new to Ubuntu and am reading (and printing) the help files to learn how to use it better. Things like this: http://live.gnome.org/Empathy/FAQ#Will_Empathy_have_OTR_.28.22Off_The_Record.22.29_support.3F Concern me greatly. While it would be wonderful to have the end-to-end communications secured natively in the protocol, the sad truth is that we're never going to get an update to the legacy protocols to support it. And no, the answer isn't Just move to another instant message platform One of the advantages of tools like Empathy is the ability to support a multi-service situation. It allows me to run a single app, and connect to any service I need. The arguments that, Pidgin supports it, you should too. don't really hold much water. I go back to the requirements that drove me to OTR in the first place. Encryption: No one else can read your instant messages. Authentication: You are assured the correspondent is who you think it is. Deniability: The messages you send do not have digital signatures that are checkable by a third party. Anyone can forge messages after a conversation to make them look like they came from you. However, during a conversation, your correspondent is assured the messages he sees are authentic and unmodified. Perfect forward secrecy: If you lose control of your private keys, no previous conversation is compromised. So, to me it's as simple as that. Please find a way to get the above services into Empathy. I personally would suggest the use of OTR as there are already libraries developed you can use to use. -- empathy needs to support OTR encryption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 438755] [NEW] Volume applet does not unmute when slider is put past 0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media When the volume slider is put to the bottom, volume gets muted. When you put it back up, the slider jumps back to the bottom and stays muted. Sometimes it will unmute, but you can get it to unmute every time by sliding all the way up to the panel. Also, using the scroll wheel will unmute. When sliding up, it should unmute automatically just like in Sound Preferences. So it is a bug with just the applet. ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Volume applet does not unmute when slider is put past 0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438755 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 162710] Re: Cannot access wireless networks keys when user change his session password.
I ran into this bug on Intrepid. It seems like a fairly common problem, and it's not intuitive to work around it for several reasons: 1. Most users don't know what a keyring is, or that Ubuntu stores their WEP key using the keyring. 2. Even for users who understand this, they would not realize that their login password was being used to access the keyring because it just works - until you change your password. For me, the problem was particularly bad because I changed my password months before I installed a wireless card. I was upgrading a desktop that I moved to a room far away from my router. If I already had a wireless card installed and then I changed my password, I would perhaps notice the correlation. In my case, I never thought that the bug would be related to something I did months ago. Luckily the forums provided insight. The problem with fixing network bugs is that you need an internet-accessible computer to search the forums and bug reports. This bug also crashed my network manager applet, as far as I can tell. I had no nm-applet in the taskbar, but the process was running. When I re- synced the keyring and login passwords and restarted my computer, the nm-applet reappeared in the taskbar and the wireless connection loaded by default. Long story short, it seems like an important bug to fix that would make Ubuntu more accessible to everyday folks. -- Cannot access wireless networks keys when user change his session password. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 70891] Mail filters do not work on IMAP mailbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I can reproduce this bug on two machines; one's a fresh install and the other's an upgrade from Dapper. Under Account Preferences, I've checked the Apply Filters option, and set up a simple filter that deletes any email whose subject contains the word [SPAM]; I've also set up a number of other filters that (should) move messages to different mailboxes after the SPAM filter does its thing. Incoming mail, SPAM included, does not get filtered and instead remains in the inbox. Selecting all the inbox's messages and manually applying the filters (using the menu or Ctrl+y) works in the sense that it deletes the SPAM messages and moves the other messages to where they're supposed to go. Filters on my POP mailboxes work fine. This may or may not be related to second bug I'm filing, in which Evolution occasionally hangs while retrieving messages from this same IMAP account. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Mail filters do not work on IMAP mailbox https://launchpad.net/bugs/70891 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 70893] Evolution occasionally hangs while accessing IMAP mailbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution While accessing my IMAP mailbox, Evolution will occasionally be able to retrieve the subject line, sender, date, and headers for a new message, but be unable to retrieve the actual message for several hours (if I let it run that long). Exiting Evolution results in it hanging indefinitely during whatever shutdown voodoo it goes through; it usually has to be killed from the command line. During these hangs, the IMAP mailbox can be normally accessed using either thunderbird or balsa, so this hang does not appear to be a problem with the IMAP server. Also, this may or may not be related to Evolution not filtering mail from this account (bug #70891). ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Evolution occasionally hangs while accessing IMAP mailbox https://launchpad.net/bugs/70893 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
