I have the very same problem, by using a Keychron K8 keyboard, which is 
recognized as an apple hid keyboard.
What i've tried is also to enable/disable fn keys, without success.

❯ echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode             
[sudo] password for paolo: 
1

~
❯ echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode
0
```

The problem appears just when typing very fast random keys, it hangs the
system for a while i guess related to the tons of strings to be
unbuffered on syslog.
