[Bug 2065827] Re: Screen is blinking at specific points. Its happening firefox app, application screen.

2024-05-25 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Bug reports raised against the Ubuntu project without
specifying a package will seldom result in any action being taken to
resolve an issue.

With no response to comment #2 I'm moving this to the gnome-shell
package which will at least bring this bug report to the attention of
Ubuntu's Desktop Team even if it is not the correct package.

Please now execute the following command only once, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

  apport-collect 2065827

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 2067063] Re: Screen lock issue allowing to see private information

2024-05-24 Thread Paul White
Tomas, you've indicated that the errant package is 'gnome-screensaver'
but you don't have that package installed.

I'm moving this to 'gnome-shell' so that your bug report reaches
Ubuntu's Desktop Team. They will review your bug report and may ask you
for further information in order to resolve your issue.

[Bug 2063985] Re: Does not detect hotplugged storage device

2024-05-20 Thread Paul Berry
I am unable to mount two, USB connected, external drives, that I use for
backups, after installing 24.04.
One is HD and the other is SSD.
When connected to the computer, both drives are visible in Nautilus, but can't
be mounted.
Naucan be used to eject the drives.

I am able to mount three, different, USB memory sticks and transfer
files using Nautilus.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

I'm moving this to the 'gnome-shell' package so that it is brought to
the attention of Ubuntu's Desktop Team.

If this is still an issue then please execute the following command only
once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a
terminal:

and then change the status of the bug report to 'New'.

[Bug 2043297] Re: Flatten image = bug report

2024-05-11 Thread Paul White
Closing as 'Invalid' - there is no release or desktop environment
information included and nothing for a developer to use when attempting
to fix any issue, problem or bug that you might be experiencing.

When using Ubuntu please use

   ubuntu-bug gimp

in a terminal to report any problems you find as it will automatically
gather debugging information and provide useful information to those
that can fix issues, bugs and reported problems.

[Bug 2064485] [NEW] Discover crasFrequent crashes in plasma-discover with libglib-2.0 errorshes after click on apps or extension for apps or plasma extensions

2024-05-01 Thread Paul Schumacher
Public bug reported:

Description:
I am experiencing frequent crashes with the application plasma-discover on
Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. These crashes occur when I attempt to access the update
functions within the Discover UI. Terminal outputs and system logs indicate
issues with libglib-2.0, showing repeated trap int3 errors, which are typically
used for debug breakpoints in development builds.

Expected Behavior:
Plasma Discover should run smoothly, allowing the management of software
updates and installations without crashing.

Actual Behavior:
Discover crashes frequently, especially when trying to access the updates
section or other specific parts of the application.

Steps Attempted:

Resetting configuration files for Discover.
Running Discover from the terminal to capture any error outputs.
System update and reinstallation of plasma-discover and its dependencies.
Analyzing system logs with journalctl, which showed repeated issues with
libglib-2.0.

System and Package Information:

Ubuntu Version: 22.04.4 LTS
Package Versions:
libglib2.0-0: Installed: 2.72.4-0ubuntu2.2
plasma-discover: Installed: 5.24.7-0ubuntu0.1

This issue significantly impacts the functionality of the Discover
application, hindering routine software management and updates. Any
assistance or resolution would be greatly appreciated.

[Bug 2047737] Re: Nautilus crashes when opening folders that contain files with js or json extensions

2024-02-02 Thread Paul Peregud
On my machine crash will occur if nautilus opens a directory containing
a .json file (haven't experimented with .js) which is not empty. Files
with trivial body, such as '""' or '"{}"' do trigger segfault. Empty
(zero sized) .json files does not trigger segfault.

```
segfault at 7fed30041ff8 ip 7fed50109bad sp 7fed30042000 error 6 in
[Bug 1961508] Re: Dock displaying over window after resuming from blank screen
2023-12-21 Thread William Paul Liggett
FYI: My temporary workaround is to just have the Dock to auto-hide (for
Ubuntu 22.04). This way there are no windows that might get stuck
underneath the Dock. This essentially solves the issue in a simple way,
but the only downside is that some folks prefer to see their Dock all
the time.
[Bug 2043043] [NEW] closed laptop not shutting down
2023-11-08 Thread Paul Weiß
Public bug reported:
Maybe this also a feature request, but the current behavior is
definitely not useful:
Current behavior:
* use a laptop (with lid switch)
* click Power Off in the Power Off/Log Out menu.
* the 60 second counter starts
* close the lid immediately
* wait a few minutes
* open the list
* be greeted with the shutting down countdown (!)
Expected behavior:
* after clicking shutdown, the laptop either shuts down after 60 seconds or I
cancel.
A shutdown should not be interruptible by anything short of a dead battery.
Maybe shutdown instantly when closing the lid (or do that in general? It's not
like you get a "These apps would like to prevent the shutdown" dialog.)
[Bug 2039866] Re: I cannot use two screens on the Ubuntu system.
2023-11-06 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
@moujahead, your bug report doesn't tell the Ubuntu developers which
release of Ubuntu you are using but I'll move this report to the gnome-
shell package as you say you are using Ubuntu.
Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:
  apport-collect 2039866
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.
Yakov, I'm moving this to the gnome-session package and changing the
status to 'Fix released' as you've not made any comment for a month now
so presumably your problem has been fixed by an update.
Please feel free to comment further and re-open this bug report if the
issues that you initially reported reappear in your Ubuntu installation.
I noticed when I did that Apr removed fuse and installed fuse3.
[Bug 2032124] Re: HeidiSql-wine --edge/beta being crash and couldn't open
2023-08-23 Thread Paul White
YOKESH, you've reported this bug against the evince document viewer
which means your report will never reach those that can help.
This application is not part of Ubuntu. A link on the SnapCraft website
(https://snapcraft.io/heidisql-wine) tells me that issues with this snap
should be reported to https://github.com/Kianda/heidisql-snap/issues
So I'm closing this as 'Invalid' as not a bug with evince or a bug with
an official Ubuntu package.
[Bug 2028610] [NEW] bring-to-front and send-to-back not working for some apps
2023-07-24 Thread Paul Smith
Public bug reported:
Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 23.04, a number of my applications have
stopped accepting bring-to-front (right click on the title bar) and
send-to-back (middle click on the title bar).  On the other hand, other
apps (native Gnome apps seemingly) do still seem to work.  Note I'm
using X11 not Wayland.
A set of apps I know do not work anymore, that used to work with Ubuntu 22.10
and below:
* xterm
* Emacs
* Chrome
* Slack
* Spotify
* VirtualBox manager
Some apps that do still work:
* Remmina
* File Manager
* gnome-terminal
* Gnome Settings
* Ubuntu Software
There are many more in both categories.
Please fix things so that I can use bring-to-front and send-to-back on
all my apps again.  Thanks!
