[Bug 829695] [NEW] libpam-runtime: Loops on No PAM profiles have been selected

2011-08-19 Thread Paul van Genderen
Public bug reported:

When debconf is set to medium or lower priority questions, configuring
libpam-gnome-keyring gets stuck in an endless loop of selecting PAM profiles.

[Bug 787316] Re: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)

2011-06-28 Thread Paul van Genderen
I get this:

The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 182094 error_code 8 request_code 15 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Not sure if it's the same bug or not. Might also be a duplicate of
#552630.

[Bug 327082] Re: Totem crashes on loading files

2011-06-06 Thread Paul van Genderen
This is still an issue in Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 (fully updated) but the
request_code is different so I'm not sure if it's the same bug.

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 93 error_code 2 request_code 133 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I could not break on gdk_x_error, will look into it later.

[Bug 467668] Re: [regression-release] Neither compiz nor metacity nor nautilus are run at start

2010-07-29 Thread Paul van Genderen
Under Ubuntu 9.10, compiz was enabled each time I ran startx. Even
though I disabled it through gnome-appearance-properties. Then I
upgraded to 10.04, and now I have to manually run gnome-appearance-
properties and enable it each time to get a working window manager and
decorations. I'd prefer the old 9.10 behaviour of enabling compiz by
default but ideally the preference would be remembered between sessions.

[Bug 423694] Re: session active, not inhibited, screen idle message

2010-04-27 Thread Paul van Genderen
I had this today on Ubuntu 9.10, but not after hibernating, sleeping or
anything. The PC is a Dell T3400, quite the opposite of a netbook.
Anyway, this bug doesn't seem to meet the SRU criteria so those who are
annoyed by this may want to upgrade to 10.04 (which is just around the
corner).

@jesseay: Don't use sudo for configure and make, and you'll probably
find your gpm in /usr/local so it's likely that you aren't running it.
But above all, don't do that. If you want to backport packages, you can
try prevu. Be sure to know what you are doing, though.

[Bug 548543] [NEW] Max volume button on mixer scale can cause ear damage

2010-03-25 Thread Paul van Genderen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

Please return to the old behaviour of having incremental loud/quiet
buttons rather then the current scale with its pseudobuttons that set an
absolute value. The interface is somewhat unintuitive, which could be
better addressed in U+1. Thing is, it's not obvious what the right
button exactly does until it's clicked.

My ears still hurt, and according to some, I was already deaf!

I had this problem a few weeks ago, removed the ev-summary file and thought it

didn't help either. I had to remove all ev-summary files. Yes, I disabled the
email accounts and I put it in offline mode.

I have 2 accounts. One local account that's set up to check in
/var/spool/mail/ubuntu and sends with sendmail (actually postfix ofcourse), and
the other account only sends email, through the GMail SMTP. I recieve mail
locally with fetchmail. Biff is enabled, but last time it wasn't.

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

2006-05-01 Thread Paul van Genderen
It seems persistant now. After opening Evolution for the second time, it came
back again, as soon as I switched it to online mode. The difference is that I
had new email (the above comment). I've also noticed emails are duplicated each
time the error appears (like the inital reporter). When I had this a few weeks
ago, I had a couple of thousand new emails, because automatic background
checking was enabled and I just shrugged and dismissed the error, left it alone
for a while, not realising how quickly new emails piled up. After clicking away
error after error I googled for a solution. Fortunately, this time there are
only about 350 new emails.

But I'm now a bit afraid of using Evolution, even though it has grown on me and
I kinda depend on it now.

[Bug 28403] Re: Error while Refreshing folder: Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

2006-04-04 Thread Paul van Genderen
This is still in 2.6.0. Although it doesn't freeze, I now have 1008 unread
mails, and counting. It seems that each time the message appears, emails have
been duplicated. Moving Inbox.ev-summary out of the way doesn't help.

I use fetchmail and postfix, and have pointed Evolution to the local mail
spool. Maybe that has something to do with it.

evolution --offline stops evolution from trying to sync and is very useful to
remove the duplicates.

Close evolution, remove .evolution/mail/local/*summary and restart evo. That
fixes it.

[Bug 35203] nautilus crashing with smb backend

2006-03-16 Thread Paul van Genderen
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35203

Comment:
Is the share hosted by Samba or Windows? What version? If it doesn't
work with Windows, does it work with Samba or vice versa? Tried an other
version?
