[Bug 1927514] Re: [HP Pavilion 15] Keyboard does not work immediately on Ubuntu login page
apport information ** Tags added: ubuntu ** Description changed: I have a problem with logging into Ubuntu, i.e. in the login window I cannot enter the password for 10-20 seconds (most often with a cold start) the keyboard does not work (laptop keyboard). After several seconds, the keyboard starts and I can enter the password. I tested on "clean" versions of Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS, 20.10 (also with Kernel 5.10), 21.04. The problem occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0016nw laptop with an Intel Core i7-1135G7 processor (also occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0073cl with Intel Core i7-1165G7). During normal operation, the keyboard works without any problems - the problem is only when logging into the system. I am using the latest BIOS version (F.12), but I have also used older versions: F.5 and F.11. [Bug 1927514] Re: Keyboard does not work immediately on Ubuntu login page
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected hirsute wayland-session ** Description changed: I have a problem with logging into Ubuntu, i.e. in the login window I cannot enter the password for 10-20 seconds (most often with a cold start) the keyboard does not work (laptop keyboard). After several seconds, the keyboard starts and I can enter the password. I tested on "clean" versions of Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS, 20.10 (also with Kernel 5.10), 21.04. [Bug 1771161] Re: system hangs after too fast typing password
Ok, it's like You start ubuntu or want it back to work after suspend and there is an annoying a little bit moment before login window to appear...it's often like a black screen covers already that login window and something is alike still 'loading' but You can login anyway (start typing to quicken the process) as I did it in former versions of ubuntu. The thing is that when You start typing password to early like without waiting till this black screen disappears so to see the login window, the system hangs like it's impossible to login/type: cannot write anything in login password or the 'dots' mimicking password when You normally type it starts to run like automat (like You could push and hold some typing button endlessly) and You can't stop this process. The only way is to reboot ubuntu via hard reset. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771161 Title: system hangs after too fast typing password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1771161/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1771161] [NEW] system hangs after too fast typing password
Public bug reported: Every time there is login window like when system starts or after system suspends and I won't wait few seconds to login background uncovers to show the password area popup and start type the password in that area it's like some typing runs like automat and never stops or just one letter is typed but overall login process is frozen so the only way to work around this issue is a hard reset. Public bug reported: Windows that have some size constraints (i.e. can't be made smaller than their original size) and don't have enough space on the screen on startup, loose decorations when started on small screen. Preconditions: - screen resolution 800x600. - a panel taking some space on the left (in my case - unity-2d launcher, always shown). I observed this problem for two applications: gnome-control-center and dejadup in Ubuntu 12.04. It seems that metacity considers them maximized if they don't have enough horizontal space on start. But still it hanged. And does not show me content of the folder making me upset. It is making ubuntu useless and not the desktop os. As an user I expect it to be: a) operable (it displays my folder content!) b) logical (when it says (in context of size) about other file types it says about other types and not excluding video files not stating that!) [Bug 121090] Re: Evolution fails to download some gmail emails
Hi, Very similiar problem as mine. The interesting part (in my case) is that evolution actually downloads the message, but after that it is not shown in Inbox (it is there -- I can see the message via web-interface). I've verified it using tcpdump and sending email with 1.5M attachment from other account, then trying to fetch it. Tcpdump clearly show that the message was downloaded. I suspect that latest evolution update broke it. I will install older version and see if it works. [Bug 121090] Re: Evolution fails to download some gmail emails
I've tried doing backup/restore with partial success. From evolution menu: file - backup settings, then switch to fresh unix account, start evolution and choose restore from first-run wizard. Restore process took some time, as my inbox is quite large. And it worked, I mean I was able to receive new messages. Few mails have vanished in the restore process as I counted all folders before. However vanished messages was either junk (mainly) or from mailing lists (just one or two), so it was acceptable. Then I tried to do the same on my normal unix account. I deleted ~/.evolution and .gconf/apps/evolution and started evolution. Wizard pop up, I've choosen restore -- my messages and settings were restored (this time more junk vanished), but unfortunately the problem didn't disapear -- I'm still unable to see new received messages. -- Evolution fails to download some gmail emails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 90925] hardware brightness keys on lenovo R60e are working strange in gnome
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Feisty herd5. IBM/lenovo R60e. Kernel 2.6.20-9-generic Problem: the hardware brightness keys (Fn+Home brighter Fn+End dimmer) are working in most strange way: when either one is pressed the display is made blank. The screen is restored after a few clicks (Fn+Home takes longer to return to visible state than Fn+End). The gnome brightness popup usually shows the correct brightness setting. The keys are working ok in win xp pro and in virtual consoles. Additionally the dropdown brightness applet doesn't work as expected: clicking on the slidebar causes the display to cycle from brightest do dimmest setting (or vice versa) in less than 1 second.
