Hi Danial,

Some more investigation ...

I reverted to Kernel to 5.3.18 ... also installed xserver-xorg-video-intel.
strace for gnome-shell shows no more errors on mouse / touchpad activity
and load remains low ..
rahul@desktophp:~$ sudo strace -c -p 11997

it appears that the cause may be in broken Kernel drivers for intel chipset

Hope this observation helps !

I mean; does 'top' report constant CPU without moving the mouse, or was
that only with gnome-system-monitor? (bug 1773502)
-- top reports constant CPU without moving mouse ... and it increases to a
higher value on Mouse / touchpad activity this is even without Gnome-system

Yes ..

1. "Mouse " is touchpad on Logitech K400
2. no 'extensions' in the path

rahul@desktophp:~/.local/share/gnome-shell$ ls -al
total 12

-rw-r--r-- 1 rahul rahul0 Nov 11 2019 gnome-overrides-migrated

3. Attached is the screenshot in GNOME classic.. the CPU load do not change
with mouse / touchpad activity but is at constant ~ 20 % with all 4 cores
loaded without any activity!!

Re: [Bug 1902825] Re: High CPU usage just moving the mouse

2020-11-04 Thread rahul
Hello Daniel,

Here are the logs.

The top output is in gnome-shell file.

The Load goes up during mouse movement .. No lock screen on this system
!!

The behaviour is erratic, after fresh boot the load is very high initially
and GUI is very sluggish. it becomes usable after ~ 2 min. The load jumps
up and stays up randomly.

2014-11-29 Thread Rahul
Just FYI, i was working on a java file in gedit and i tried to disable plugin
and gedit crashed but then i closed that file first and then closed gedit.
i opened gedit again without anyfile open and i tried to disable this Zeitgeist
plugin and it worked.
So my fellow users can try this workaround.

[Bug 889700] [NEW] very high cpu usage during a simple file transfer

2011-11-12 Thread rahul ranjan
Public bug reported:

Whenever I'm transferring files, there is an increase in CPU usage
considerably and the laptop heats up. Initially i thought it's a
Nautilus own issue, when i used dolphin same thing is happening. I was
copying a .mkv file (6GB) in size (though this problem is occurring for
all file sizes) to external harddisk whose file system is NTFS. Then i
tried copying within same ext4 file system i.e from downloads folder to
Document folder, the CPU usage shot up again! A simple file transfer
causing 40-50% CPU usage is upsetting.

laptop configuration is
Core i3 2.4 Ghz,
3 GB RAM
320 HDD

[Bug 494919] Re: totem fails to render video properly after playing audio file.

2009-12-17 Thread Rahul Ghose
no... video plays flawlessly I tried that too... like I said, it happens
only after I play an audio and in totem when the visualisation is
disabled.

I said this too:
Restarting totem with a video will play the video flawlessly. But if any audio
is played before the video, the problem reappears.

2009-12-11 Thread Rahul Ghose
My driver is i845

Nope, no compiz here.

All video files (the ones I've used are ogv, avi and mpeg ones).

and the problem arises only when the visualisation is disabled. Works
fine if visualisation is enabled.
