[Bug 1159237] [NEW] System Settings - Mouse Touchpad - Content sticks to fingers works with touchpad but not mousewheel

2013-03-23 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Turning on Content sticks to fingers works as intended with a touchpad
but not a mousewheel. Mousewheel scrolling (at least with a Microsoft
Intellimouse) is unaffected by turning on Content sticks to fingers.

Expected behavior:

Turning on Content sticks to fingers should scroll the content of the
page up when pushing the mousewheel up (away from your body).

Actual behavior:

Pushing the mousewheel up (away from your body) still scrolls the
scrollbar handle up and the content of the page down.

[Bug 1051027] Re: MacBookAir3, 1 loses desktop background image after suspend/resume

2012-09-17 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Bryce,

It is reproducible and happens every time I sleep/resume. It's similar
to another bug I encountered a while ago in Oneiric and for a while in
Natty Beta 1 where the background would disappear on sleep/resume but,
if I left-clicked anywhere on the Dekstop, the image would reappear.
That's not the case with this manifestation; the background disappears
until I re-select it from Appearance.

[Bug 1051027] Re: MacBookAir3, 1 loses desktop background image after suspend/resume

2012-09-17 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
After doing testing with LP Bug #1051035 and LP Bug #1051020 I no longer
see this issue with all packages updated as of 17-Sep 21:00 UTC and
running Linux medic 3.6.0-030600rc6-generic #201209161835 SMP Sun Sep 16
22:36:28 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I will test this again after rebooting to the stock Quantal kernel (on
the off chance that this is actually a video corruption issue related to
the above two bugs).

[Bug 845159] [NEW] Selecting System Settings - Displays with nvidia-current installed brings up Unknown gnome-control-center display window instead of prompting to launch nvidia-settings

2011-09-08 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

In Natty and previous, when nvidia-current was installed, selecting
Displays would prompt to launch nvidia-settings instead of launching the
incompatible gnome-control-center display that simply displays
Unknown.

Is this a bug or a feature? Shouldn't users be prompted to launch
nvidia-settings?

[Bug 844193] [NEW] Screen won't turn back on after being turned off due to inactivity (System Settings - Screen)

2011-09-07 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Netbook: HP Mini 1120NR

After the screen is automatically turned off due to inactivity I am
unable to get it to turn back on. Moving the mouse, clicking, and
tapping keys do not turn the screen back on as expected. This is quite
disheartening since the HP Mini 1120NR originally shipped with Ubuntu
pre-loaded.

I know the system is up and running since I can login via SSH from
remote. To get the screen back I have to cold reboot; I press the front
power button and blindly hit Enter to select Shut Down (trying to reboot
from remote via SSH results in a frozen system).

[Bug 844235] [NEW] Screen flashes randomly when adjusting Brightness in System Settings - Screen

2011-09-07 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor

Netbook: HP Mini 1120NR

When adjusting the Brightness using System Settings - Screen the screen
will flash randomly. It flashes between full dim, full bright, and a
random brightness value or the brightness value of the slider as you
drag it.

Sometimes the slider does not move when you drag it; it pops into place
when you release it.

[Bug 279836] [NEW] Enabling Subpixel smoothing (LCDs) in Appearance Preferences results in inconsistent character shapes

2008-10-07 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Enabling Subpixel smoothing (LCDs) in Appearance Preferences results in
inconsistent character shapes. When typing in any field with Subpixel
smoothing enabled the f character changes shape _while_ typing.

Typing a long string of f characters results in the f changing shape
from a tall lowercase f to a short lowercase f while typing.

Typing a single f followed by another character results in a tall
lowercase f. See attached screenshot with text entry into xchat-gnome
for an example of the weirdness.

I have not changed the fonts from their theme defaults (Sans 10, Sans
Bold 10, and Monospace 10).

[Bug 279879] [NEW] Changing channels in xchat-gnome doesn't properly redraw window and leaves text artifacts on screen (video attached)

2008-10-07 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

Changing channels in xchat-gnome doesn't properly redraw window and
leaves text artifacts on screen.

Whether using the mouse to click on channel names or using Alt-UpArrow
and Alt-DownArrow the window doesn't properly redraw when changing
channels.

If #Foo has less text in the window than #Bar then switching from #Bar
to #Foo results in artifacts from #Bar displaying in the empty space at
the bottom of #Foo.

In the attached video I did a /clear in #Ubuntu-Mirrors and then used
Alt-UpArrow and Alt-DownArrow to jump between #Ubuntu-Mirrors, #Ubuntu-
Mobile, and #Pepper. The text from #Ubuntu-Mobile and #Pepper then
showed up as artifacts in #Ubuntu-Mirrors.

[Bug 279879] Re: Changing channels in xchat-gnome doesn't properly redraw window and leaves text artifacts on screen (video attached)

2008-10-07 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor

** Attachment added: lp-bug-xchat_gnome-artifacts.avi
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18304514/lp-bug-xchat_gnome-artifacts.avi

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

Changing channels in xchat-gnome doesn't properly redraw window and
  leaves text artifacts on screen.

Whether using the mouse to click on channel names or using Alt-UpArrow
- and Alt-DownArrow the window doesn't proper redraw when changing
+ and Alt-DownArrow the window doesn't properly redraw when changing

[Bug 279480] [NEW] Using Ctrl-PgUp and Ctrl-PgDn to switch tabs results in garbage on command line

2008-10-06 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Using Ctrl-PgUp and Ctrl-PgDn to switch tabs results in garbage on
command line.

Open a new terminal and create multiple tabs. Hit Ctrl-PgDn until you
reach the last tab. Hit Ctrl-PgDn again and ;5~ appears on the command
line for each keypress.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ;5~;5~

Hit Ctrl-PgUp until your each the first tab. Hit Ctrl-PgUp again and
5~ appears on the command line.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ 5~5~

I don't recall seeing this behaviour in Hardy.

[Bug 272230] [NEW] Camera Import: Checking Always perform this action then Ignore does not persist

2008-09-19 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

  Version table:

When plugging in my 16 GB iPhone 3G I get the expected Camera Import: A
camera has been detected dialog box with the buttons Ignore and
Import Photos with a Always perform this action checkbox.

Checking Always perform this action and clicking Ignore does not
persist; unplugging my phone and plugging it back in again results in
the same Camera Import dialog box.

I'd expect to never see the dialog box again by selecting Always
perform this action and clicking Ignore since I'd rather do imports
manually in F-Spot instead of a dialog box popping up every time I plug
in a USB device that Ubuntu thinks has photos on it.

[Bug 224448] Re: [hardy] [nVidia] White screen after resume from suspend

2008-05-21 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
I can also confirm both scenarios described above:

1) Resume from suspend results in a white screen instead of an unlock
dialog. Blindly typing the password at the white screen results in
unlocking the screen.

2) Resume from suspend results in a normal unlock screen, then I have a
white box in the lower right hand corner of the screen that persists
across all workspaces.

I am running Compiz and have Desktop Effects turned on.

[Bug 232547] [NEW] Running sudo in gnome-terminal sporadically results in spurious linefeeds after sudo

2008-05-21 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 203573 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203573

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

This may be a bug in sudo itself; reporting against gnome-terminal
first. I have run across an intermittent bug while executing sudo in
gnome-terminal where spurious linefeeds are fed into the program being
run under sudo. For example, sometimes running sudo id results in the
output of id and then a dozenish prompts after id. This is particularly
evil when running sudo apt-get install and it automatically selects Y
for me.

Intermittently occurs, no solid repro available, but I have seen it on
my HP Pavilion dv6700t (Hardy), Tadpole (Hardy), our office
administrator's System76 Seval Performance (Hardy), and Neil Patel's
Ubuntu Mobile handheld.

It has also occurred on remote servers when logged in from my dv6700t
using gnome-terminal.

Examples of output:

[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2008-04-18 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
I have similar problems when using the Blank Screen screensaver. Moving
the mouse or tapping a key reveals a blank white or blank gray dialog
box. Hitting Esc to cancel the dialog then moving the mouse again shows
the dialog properly.
