Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
natty already has gstreamer0.10 and gst-plugins-base0.10 0.10.32. These releases
introduce new API and gst0.10-python 0.10.21 has bindings for this API.

It also fixes some crashes and broken bindings for some API, which caused
problems for some applications.

[Bug 641218] [NEW] Freeze Exception: Backport 0.10.24-3 and 0.10.24-4 changes from Debian

2010-09-17 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Public bug reported:

Hi,
it would be a good idea to backport the 0.10.24-3 and 0.10.24-4 changes from
Debian. They fix the end of stream handling in the QT/MOV/MP4 demuxer and
without this false errors are generated that prevent the usage of some of those
files.

The only changes are two new patches from upstream GIT:
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/pkg-gstreamer/experimental/gst-plugins-good0.10/debian/patches/02_qtdemux-eos-handling.patch?revision=3393view=markup
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/pkg-gstreamer/experimental/gst-plugins-good0.10/debian/patches/04_qtdemux-eos-handling.patch?revision=3395view=markup

[Bug 287482] [NEW] Sync latest GStreamer packages

2008-10-22 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Public bug reported:

Hi,
we should sync the latest GStreamer packages from Debian/experimental for
Intrepid.

This would be:

  gstreamer0.10 0.10.21-4:
  - Fixes a bug that caused banshee and farsight (and possibly other stuff) to
crash. This is LP #283437
  - Fixes a bug that caused several elements to fail although they shouldn't

  gst-plugins-base0.10 0.10.21-3:
  - Fixes (only) LP bug #282434

  gst-plugins-good0.10 0.10.10.4-1:
  gst-plugins-bad0.10 0.10.8.4-1:
  - Fix a few small regressions over the previous releases (0.10.10 and 0.10.8)
and should be essentially
the same as the coming releases (0.10.11 / 0.10.9) on Friday

[Bug 279800] Re: GStreamer update (7-Oct-2008, Intrepid) causes Banshee crash

2008-10-10 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Ok, so two things are broken here... mono's SIGABRT handler and
something else ;)

As I can't reproduce it here could you try getting a string representation of
the two parameters passed to gst_caps_subtract()?
Just call p gst_caps_to_string (0x2549780) of course with the correct,
updated address.

Also the name of the last pad (0x7f2f48757e10 in your case) and it's
parent would be interesting.

For this call p gst_object_get_name (0x7f2f48757e10) and p
gst_object_get_name (gst_object_get_parent (0x7f2f48757e10))

Don't forget to update all addresses :) It seems that the pad at
0x7f2f48757e10 has empty caps for some reason which should not happen in
any case...

[Bug 80626] Re: Musepack stopped working (The stream is of a different type...)

2007-01-21 Thread Sebastian Dröge
This is caused by some changes in our gstreamer/gst-plugins-base CVS
snapshots. It's already fixed again upstream.

Sebastien, do you want to update the CVS snapshots soon or would reverting this
changes be better in your oppinion?
This also affects id3demux, apedemux, typefinding and other stuff :/

[Bug 71476] Re: Video scaling in totem is unclean

2006-12-12 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Not sure if this is a totem or gstreamer bug... ximagesink does no
scaling by default at all so totem must add the videoscale element
somewhere. xvimagesink OTOH scales via hardware so this can't be changed
in any way.

Without having looked at the totem code possible fixes are having bilinear
scaling as default in videoscale (instead of nearest-neighbour) or telling
totem to set the property correctly when adding the element.
IMHO the latter should be done in any way, with something in totem's
preferences to select the algorithm used as bilinear might be far too slow on
some machines while nearest-neighbour is still fine.

[Bug 71476] Re: Video scaling in totem is unclean

2006-12-12 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Ok, playbin is adding videoscale, not totem. And playbin just uses the
default mode of videoscale, i.e. nearest neighbour.

So if anywhere it should be changed there. The only problem I see is
that bilinear scaling is much more CPU intensive compared to nearest
neighbour... and it could make the difference between a smoothly played
movie on a slow machine and many frames beeing dropped...

Sebastien, what do you think? The changes required are rather trivial...

And for now if someone wants to use ximagesink with a better scaling
algorithm one could set the video output sink in gstreamer-properties to
videoscale method=1 ! ximagesink for example.
