[Bug 357616] Re: volume applet scroll control inconsistent

2009-04-08 Thread SebastianHazlewood
I agree that minor annoyances like this should be fixed as part of
usability polish before release

[Bug 179149] Re: Hibernate doesn't work on laptop with Hardy

2008-01-04 Thread SebastianHazlewood
I will try the shortcut to get into a console window. no way of
telnet/sshing into the box though.

however, i have managed to try again and wait. at some point it did
switch off, and i managed to switch on and return from hibernate. very
very messy and slow, I will try again after running another update of
Hardy today, and report back.

Seeing as there are numerous topics about suspend/hibernate issues in
the forums, I would assume that there's generally still lots of things
wrong with acpi/powermanagement mechanisms in ubuntu, which I think
should've been fixed 2 or 3 releases ago ;-) else nobody having those
problems will seriously abandon his/her windoze partition (including
me).

[Bug 178802] Re: getting text when logging out

2008-01-04 Thread SebastianHazlewood
with Hardy updated to january 4th's updates:

- pressing hibernate (laptop on ACpower)
- after 3 seconds, black screen with error messages:

iwl3545: error sending reply_rxon
MAC in deep sleep
ata5: acpi set timing mode failed
ata1: SError

and many more

- nothing happens for several minutes
- manual off by pressing power button for a few seconds
- restart, very long or non-moving progress bar
- then finally, a login screen (the right one, returning from hibernate)
- after pressing enter, screen freezes
- after over 10 minutes, screen goes black, hard reset necessary
