[Bug 1033034] Re: Setting the desktop background from cron no longer updates the desktop background

2012-12-10 Thread Serrano Pereira
Thanks for the suggestions. The issue became less and less frequent
until when a few months ago it somehow resolved itself. I didn't do
anything though; the script and the cron command have remained the same.

[Bug 1033034] Re: Setting the desktop background from cron no longer updates the desktop background

2012-08-09 Thread Serrano Pereira
The last few days this problem has become less predictable. Instead of
every day, this problem occurs every other day. I'm not experiencing the
issue today, but yesterday I did.

[Bug 1033034] [NEW] Setting the desktop background from cron no longer updates the desktop background

2012-08-04 Thread Serrano Pereira
Public bug reported:

I wrote a script which uses `gsettings` to change the desktop background
in Gnome Shell/Unity. The command that my script executes looks like
this:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri
file:///path/to/background.jpg

Manually running this command immediately updates the desktop
background. I use cron to schedule execution of my script. My crontab
rule looks like this:

0,30 * * * * DISPLAY=:0.0 nextwall
/home/serrano/Pictures/backgrounds/

Cron successfully runs the script every 30 minutes and the new wallpaper
URI is successfully set in `gsettings`. I test this by running:

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri

However, the desktop background is not updated when cron runs the script
(this used to work until about a month ago). Interestingly, when I right
click on my desktop and select Change Desktop Background, the desktop
background is suddenly updated to the correct image.

So for some reason changing the desktop background from cron no longer
triggers nautilus to update the desktop background.

[Bug 646377] Re: Brasero crashes on any video project

Installing the cdrdao package does not fix this problem on Maverick
32bit either.

[Bug 639908] Re: brasero crashed with signal 5 in g_variant_new_va()

2010-10-21 Thread Serrano Pereira
I faced the same problem while trying to copy an audio CD on an updated
Ubuntu 10.10. After reading the comments, I installed the package
'cdrdao'. That actually solved the problem. Brasero has just
successfully created an image file of the CD.

I tried to reproduce the bug by removing the package 'cdrdao', and the
bug is back again. So I think 'cdrdao' should definitely be marked as a
dependency for Brasero. Or one would at least expect a message
displaying the missing dependency, like the one described in comment
#20. But instead it crashes.

[Bug 574787] Re: thumbnail borders are impractical for some thumbnails

2010-05-03 Thread Serrano Pereira
I would just like to mention that it is possible to disable the ugly
borders by removing/renaming the following file:
/usr/share/pixmaps/nautilus/thumbnail_frame.png.

[Bug 229197] Re: rhythmbox notifications don't show album cover

2010-03-08 Thread Serrano Pereira
I only use local covers (ID3 tag and folder.jpg) and I always have the
function for fetching covers from internet disabled. So the problem
occurs for files that already have a cover locally (either in the ID3
tag or a separate folder.jpg in the same folder).

[Bug 229197] Re: rhythmbox notifications don't show album cover

2010-03-08 Thread Serrano Pereira
This is getting really strange.. first I was testing to see if the issue
happens when Rhythmbox goes from track to track. The album covers showed up the
way the should. But then, after the first 5 tracks or so, covers disappeared
from the notifications again. After that I couldn't get it working anymore,
neither when I switched tracks manually.
I restarted Rhythmbox to see if that changes anything, but the issue remained.
Then I rebooted the whole system, but still no album covers. Playing the same
tracks which showed covers earlier don't show covers in the notifications
anymore either, so it's not the mp3 files that are causing this.

[Bug 229197] Re: rhythmbox notifications don't show album cover

2010-03-07 Thread Serrano Pereira
This bug still exists on a fully updated Ubuntu Karmic with Rhythmbox
0.12.7. Strangly, I didn't have this problem when I had just installed
it. It started happening later that day while I was playing around with
CoverGloobus. At first it would load all covers the way it should. Then
later that same day it would only display covers from albums that have
the cover as a separate .jpg file in the same folder (covers from ID3
tags were not displayed). And now (a few days later) it won't show any
covers at all (although at times it does). DarthTibault's method also
didn't change anything for me.

I added a screenshot with the bug in action.
