[Bug 140680] Re: linux-uvc and v4l don't work with Chicony webcam

2007-09-20 Thread Sevenissimo
Since last update (19 sep 2007):

- gstreamer test pipeline (mentioned above) works great (in spite of warn, also
mentioned above).
- gstreamer-properties test works

- gstreamer-apps (using v4l2src from webcam), like cheese, are still
buggy: warn about unexpected frame size slow down streming to 2~4fps
(always up to 25fps in test pipeline)

- other apps, like camorama, don't work at all.
- ekiga has been working since the beginning.

[Bug 140680] Re: linux-uvc and v4l don't work with Chicony webcam

2007-09-19 Thread Sevenissimo
- This bug is related to gstreamer video4linux2 plugin.
- This bug has been fixed with today (wed, 19 sep 2007)
gstreamer-0.10-plugins-good update¹.

so, you can test webcam using:
$ gst-launch-0.10 -v --gst-debug=*v4l2*:5 v4l2src ! ffmpegcolorspace !
ximagesink

but, actually, I can't get it work in gstreamer apps, due to:
0:00:17.972419000  7422 0x82961a0 WARN   v4l2src
gstv4l2src.c:1065:gst_v4l2src_get_mmap:v4l2src3 warning: Got unexpected frame
size of 8168 instead of 614400.
0

- This warn makes applications like gstreamer-properties or cheese
close unexpectly [test using: $ gstreamer-properties --gst-
debug=*v4l2*:5]

[just for information: these webcams are built-in in HP Pavilion series dv65xx]
