[Bug 483287] [NEW] volume reset after suspend/resume

2009-11-15 Thread Shoofy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

I'm using a Dell Mini 9. Ever since upgrading to Karmic after suspending
and resuming the volume goes back to some default setting and not to
what I had it at before. This is problematic, since I use my netbook to
take notes in class and I would like to just leave the volume muted all
the time to prevent random beeps and sounds that applications choose to
emit from disrupting the class, but now unless I remember to mute it
every time I resume bad things could happen.

[Bug 193709] Re: While working screen-monitor goes blank doesn't respond to keyboard or/and mouse

2008-05-11 Thread Shoofy
I think I may be seeing a similar bug. If I have the gnome-screensaver
process running and I have g-p-m set to turn off the monitor when I
close my laptop lid, when I close the lid and open it again I get the
same issue you have. My bug only occurs when fglrx is installed.

This seems to be fixed in Hardy.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of
Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at

[Bug 178935] Re: screen stays off when opening laptop lid with screensaver on

2008-01-01 Thread Shoofy
I downgraded to Catalyst 7.11 and the problem is gone. It's clear that
its a problem with the ATI drivers, but it may be worth making sure that
this bug disappears in future versions.

[Bug 178935] screen stays off when opening laptop lid with screensaver on

2007-12-27 Thread Shoofy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Using the ATI Catalyst 7.12 drivers for my Mobility Radeon X1400 on a
Dell Inspiron E1505, if I close the laptop lid with the screensaver on,
or if the screensaver goes on when the lid is closed, when I open the
lid, the screen doesn't go on. It does not respond to mouse movement or
key presses. I need to do a hard reboot in order to get it back. I
assume I could ssh in and revive it, but I haven't tried.

I suspect that this is more a problem with the ATI drivers, since this
bug did not occur with the 7.11 drivers, but ATI doesn't have a way to
report it, so I figured I'd post it here.

[Bug 150940] Re: Print range does not default back to all for each seperate document resulting in blank pages being printed

2007-12-13 Thread Shoofy
It certainly makes more sense than storing them globally, but making the
print setting persistent per document seems to me to be a change that
should be made globally across all relevant Gnome apps or not at all. It
doesn't make any more sense in evince than it does in OpenOffice.org or
any other app that prints documents, so for the sake of user comfort I
think adding this feature just to Evince would be confusing.

[Bug 150940] Re: Print range does not default back to all for each seperate document resulting in blank pages being printed

2007-12-10 Thread Shoofy
I don't think this is fixed, unless there is a new version that hasn't
come through the update channels yet. If this is the case, please let me
know how to get the fixed version.

There's no reason why if I choose to print pages 34-52 of one document
that it should be assumed that I want to print the same range of a
completely new document. What ends up happening is the next time I try
to print an entire document but don't notice that my previous range was
saved and only that range prints out, so I have to go back in and set a
new range of all the pages that didn't print the first time. It ends up
going like this forever until I learn to check each time. It would be
one thing if this were a systemwide standard that the settings are
preserved, but the fact is that it isn't.

[Bug 172918] dim-on-idle does not recognize evince mouse movements

2007-11-29 Thread Shoofy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

dim-on-idle does not seem to recognize mouse movements over the content
area of an evince window, so if it dims, moving the mouse in this area
will not bring the brightness back. Using the scroll wheel, typing, or
mousing over an area outside the content area of evince (including the
menus and other chrome) all do bring it back.

[Bug 106463] Re: gnome-main-menu won't load for gnome-2.18.1

2007-04-14 Thread Shoofy
I'm seeing the same thing. I'm wondering if it's a result of whatever
changes were made in network-manager that caused problems last week,
since I saw this first start happening immediately after that update and
I think gnome-main-menu uses network-manager to check network status.
