[Bug 1634767] Re: Shotwell 0.22.0 Ubuntu 16.10 trash process not working as expected
** Description changed: + Please see my bug report #1640421 as this problem effects not only + Shotwell. + Using "Delete" or "Empty Rubbish Bin" with the "remove and trash" option in Shotwell 0.22.0 rubbish bin, files do not appear in system rubbish bin as expected in Ubuntu 16.10. However, the aforementioned files do appear in the system rubbish bin when viewed in Ubuntu 14.04 so Shotwell 0.22.0 in Ubuntu 16.10 seems to have performed correctly. - --- + --- ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: - USERPID ACCESS COMMAND - /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: magnus 2288 F...m pulseaudio - /dev/snd/controlC0: magnus 2288 F pulseaudio + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: magnus 2288 F...m pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: magnus 2288 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=44b7dea2-a8b4-4188-b45e-8d90cd697dc7 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-16 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 (20161012.2) Lsusb: - Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub - Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f2:b483 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd - Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0951:1665 Kingston Technology Digital DataTraveler SE9 64GB - Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub + Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f2:b483 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd + Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0951:1665 Kingston Technology Digital DataTraveler SE9 64GB + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub MachineType: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. [Bug 1640421] [NEW] Files deleted on USB devices don't appear in the system recycle bin.
Public bug reported: Any files deleted from a USB device (sent to the system recycle bin) don't appear in the system recycle bin in 16.10. However, if I connect the USB device to another system running 14.04, the files appear in that system's recycle bin. I can only guess the problem is with Nautilus - I had previously incorrectly reported this as a bug with Shotwell #1634767 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.20.3-1ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-26.28-generic 4.8.0 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-26-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Nov 9 09:02:58 2016 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'show-move-to-trash-shortcut-changed-dialog' b'false' b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'sidebar-width' b'198' b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'geometry' b"'890x400+108+153'" InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-24 (15 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 (20161012.2) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) usr_lib_nautilus: gnome-terminal 3.20.2-1ubuntu5 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug yakkety -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640421 Title: Files deleted on USB devices don't appear in the system recycle bin. [Bug 1634767] Re: Shotwell 0.22.0 Ubuntu 16.10 trash process not working as expected
Can I delete this bug as clearly the problem is not with Shotwell but something else in Ubuntu 16.10 as any file deleted on an external drive does not appear in the system recycle bin. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Perhaps I am the only person deleting files from an external drive? Perhaps I am the only person left using Ubuntu? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1634767 Title: Shotwell 0.22.0 Ubuntu 16.10 trash process not working as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1634767/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1634767] Re: Shotwell 0.22.0 Ubuntu 16.10 trash process not working as expected
The same problem occurs with all my external drives including within Nautilus. If I delete a file on a USB connected drive, the file does not appear in the system recycle bin however, if I then connect the drive to a device running Ubuntu 14.04, the files appear in the system recycle bin on that system.
