[Bug 290204] Re: Annoying beep on shutdown using System - Shut down...

2009-07-13 Thread Srik
I've noticed that often there are two or even three beeps on shut down
(so not always one). It's seems that this behaviour becomes more
probable using the pc for long time (hours instead of minutes...)

I want only to say the the bug that i've posted to bugzilla is now
resolved. The understanding or the problem it's far from my informatic
knowledges. If you are interested in this bug (like me) you should find
interesting the following link:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519882

My question is and now, what could we do? (like post bug somewhere else,
etc).
Bye

[Bug 195483] Re: Sound Juicer - MP3 quality doesn't change

2008-05-15 Thread Srik
I've just upgraded to hardy (8.04) and the default line still doesn't give
correct vbr mp3s but the suggested line above still resolves the problem,
even changing vbr-max-bitrate to 256 (from 192) gives to me VBR mp3s between
160-256 kbps (checked with nautilus, amarok, easy tag)!

I continue to think that this line should be the default in soundjucer!!

The actual default gstreamer line doesn't give correct vbr mp3s or at
least correct tags of these mp3!!

Soundjuicer is the default application for cd-ripping and a lot of
people need to rip in mp3 (because of their portable mp3s readers) so it
has to do its job correctly!

Second try! Maybe there is something more...

The problem (?) is that the crash appears closing the program but when i
use gdm it remains in memory like a zombie (i can see it like this in
the system monitor) and the automatic bug report doesn't start. I tried
to kill it via the system monitor or giving the command sudo kill
PID but it still remains there until i close the gdm.

2008-03-05 Thread Srik
Yesterday i've newly updated my system and something changed. Now, when
i put a cd-audio into the cd-reader, soundjuicer doesn't start
automatically. So i've to click on audio cd in the resources menu.
After a long time (minutes), with a lot of reading tries by my cd-reader
as i can hear, it appears the small window with

Impossible to mount audio Disk
The device /dev/scd0 doesn't contain audio file(s)

I click on the Ok button and then nothing else happens (so no crash
report!).

[Bug 196692] Re: gvfsd-cdda crashed with SIGSEGV in cdio_cddap_close_no_free_cdio()

2008-03-02 Thread Srik
I've obtained requested information, they are in the attachment.

The bug reappeared followind this sequence:

-Inserted an audio cd in my cd reader that is mounted on the virtual machine
too
-Automatically started soundjuicer
-Few moment after appeared a small error window then a big one

On the small one is written:
Impossible to mount audio Disk
The device /dev/scd0 doesn't contain audio file(s)

The bigger one is the error segnalation for launchpad.

At the end i want to notice that in sound juicer the names of the audio
tracks appeared and that i can start the audio extraction but that it's
really really slow (i think never ending.. sometimes it tries to guess
the end time but it gives value like 600' for only one track!. Listening
to my cd-dvd reader i can hear a continous start and stop of the read
process) (obviouvsly these things don't happen on the host machine).

2008-02-25 Thread Srik
Having only one cd-dvd reader on my pc, i don't think i could test the
extraction and encoding of cd audio track in mp3 while using the live
cd! May i use a virtual machine? Is there no one that could test this
bug?

[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.

2007-10-20 Thread Srik
Yesterday i upgraded to gutsy. On the first reboot i had no problem!!
This morning i had the HAL error!!

When i click on the off button, nothing happens... The network applet
say that there is no network connection but it's not true... Other disks
are not mounted...

I followed all the suggestions in this page with no results:

- CONCURRENCY in /etc/init.d/rc was just set to none...

- renamed S12hal to S13hal and S13gdm to S14gdm in /etc/rc2.d (i tried
renaming them even in /etc/rc(3,4,5).d)

- sudo update-rc.d -f dbus remove and then sudo update-rc.d dbus
multiuser 12 20 as suggested by Alex Muntada
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/~alex.muntada)

I have a core 2 duo machine.

 ps -p $( /var/run/dbus/pid) give --
PID TTY TIME CMD
 4969 ?00:00:00 dbus-daemon

pidof hald and then ls -l /etc/rc2.d/*dbus* give --
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2007-10-20 11:37 /etc/rc2.d/S12dbus - ../init.d/dbus

These are the current priorities of dbus, hal and dhcdbd:

$ ls -1 /etc/rc?.d/*dbus
/etc/rc1.d/K20dbus
/etc/rc2.d/S12dbus
/etc/rc3.d/S12dbus
/etc/rc4.d/S12dbus
/etc/rc5.d/S12dbus

$ ls -1 /etc/rc?.d/*hal
/etc/rc1.d/K16hal
/etc/rc2.d/S12hal
/etc/rc3.d/S12hal
/etc/rc4.d/S12hal
/etc/rc5.d/S12hal

$ ls -1 /etc/rc?.d/*dhcdbd
/etc/rc0.d/K16dhcdbd
/etc/rc1.d/K16dhcdbd
/etc/rc2.d/S24dhcdbd
/etc/rc3.d/S24dhcdbd
/etc/rc4.d/S24dhcdbd
/etc/rc5.d/S24dhcdbd
/etc/rc6.d/K16dhcdbd

By now the problem disappeared with the reinstallation of the package
hal using synaptic! :)
