[Bug 885592] Re: No "parent folder" button

2011-11-03 Thread Stefan Löffler
I'm using the location bar in "location field mode"
(http://linux.about.com/library/gnome/blgnome6n12b.htm). Sorry for not
clarifying this earlier - I tried to remember where that setting was,
but it appears to be gone from the preferences dialog :(.

FWIW, here is the corresponding part of gconf:

$ gconftool-2 -a /apps/nautilus/preferences
 executable_text_activation = ask
 enable_delete = false
 start_with_status_bar = true
 click_policy = double
 sidebar_cat_network_expander = true
 start_with_location_bar = true
 default_folder_viewer = icon-view
 media_autorun_x_content_open_folder = []
 sort_directories_first = true
 media_automount = true
 install_mime_activation = true
 show_directory_item_counts = local-only
 always_use_location_entry = true
 navigation_window_saved_geometry = 1443x760+475+290
 navigation_window_saved_maximized = false
 start_with_toolbar = true
 side_pane_view = places
 mouse_use_extra_buttons = true
 sidebar_cat_personal_expander = true
 show_advanced_permissions = false
 desktop_font = Ubuntu 11
 sidebar_width = 192
 date_format = locale
 confirm_trash = true
 always_use_browser = true
 show_icon_text = local-only
 sidebar_cat_devices_expander = true
 mouse_forward_button = 9
 toolbar_items =
[Back,Forward,Up,StopReload,Search,LocationPathBar,ViewModeButton]
 media_automount_open = true
 media_autorun_never = false
 media_autorun_x_content_start_app = [x-content/software]
 mouse_back_button = 8
 clutter_test = 2
 show_image_thumbnails = local-only
 media_autorun_x_content_ignore = []
 start_with_sidebar = true
 thumbnail_limit = 0
 desktop_is_home_dir = false

Curiously, the "toolbar_items" entry contains "Up", but that seems to be
ignored. So I guess this is a problem with not properly porting options
in the update to oneiric?

[Bug 885592] [NEW] No "parent folder" button

2011-11-03 Thread Stefan Löffler
Public bug reported:

After update to oneiric, I don't see any easy way (read: toolbar button)
to navigate to the parent folder. There is a menu entry, and there are
keyboard shortcuts, but neither gives an easy way to quickly navigate up
in the directory tree with the mouse (in particular if you want to go up
two or three levels).

[Bug 663820] Re: Inconsistency: link to folder "Desktop" translated in side pane

2011-10-18 Thread Stefan Löffler
Similar things happen on the desktop itself - the home folder is labeled
"home" (small h!) even with German locale, and "Computer" is also not
translated to "Rechner" (see attached screenshot).

[Bug 877354] [NEW] Labels are not localized on desktop

2011-10-18 Thread Stefan Löffler
Public bug reported:

I'm using the de_AT locale. In normal nautilus windows, the home folder
is correctly localized to "Persönlicher Ordner" in the sidebar (as are
others, like Desktop or file system). However, on the desktop, the
folder is labeled "home" (with small h!), and the computer is labeled
"Computer" instead of the localized "Rechner".

FWIW, I chose not to update standard folder names from English to
German. I.e., "Documents" is still called "Documents", "Pictures" is
"Pictures", etc. Still, the sidebar shows properly localized names for
standard locations such as home, computer, or the desktop, while the
desktop doesn't.

[Bug 877347] [NEW] Quick search in subdirectory doesn't work

2011-10-18 Thread Stefan Löffler
Public bug reported:

Typical use case, supposing you have a folder structure
~/first_folder/second_folder/ with several other sibling folders:
1) Open nautilus (pointing to ~/)
2) Type e.g., "fir" until first_folder is selected
3) Hit enter
4) Type, e.g., "sec" to select second folder

Step 4 doesn't work anymore after upgrading to oneiric (and consequently
updating nautilus). Usually, it doesn't do anything. With some random
clicking and tabbing, I sometimes got the search box to show again,
which usually contained just gibberish, as if it had concatenated all my
attempts (e.g., "firsecsecsec"). Hitting backspace only brings me back
to the previous folder, and if not doing anything the search box quickly
disappears.

[Bug 789479] Re: Improper encoding of the "Symbol" font

2011-05-28 Thread Stefan Löffler
Yes, uninstalling ttf-symbol-replacement solves this issue. Note that I
have wine1.3 installed. I added both wine1.2 and wine1.3 to this issue.

Still, I wonder why poppler picks a font from wine over Symbol.pfb.
Shouldn't "system" gs fonts take precedence over ports from Windows
provided by wine? Maybe this is a fontconfig issue as well?

[Bug 789479] [NEW] Improper encoding of the "Symbol" font

2011-05-28 Thread Stefan Löffler
Public bug reported:

The characters 'm' and 'p' are mapped to wrong glphys in the base-14
font "Symbol". This problem has not occurred in maverick.

I'm attaching a pdf-file that uses all base-14 fonts without embedding
them, and screenshots from maverick and natty. Note the differences in
the 5th word in the "Symbol" line. The screenshots were made in TeXworks
which is based on poppler-qt4 (evince in natty gives the same result as
TeXworks, but I don't have a maverick-screenshot of it at hand).

[Bug 777292] Re: Gedit not single instance when started from unity

2011-05-16 Thread Stefan Löffler
I still see the issue with Unit 3.8.12.

It appears both ways:
 * Start gedit from launcher/dash/terminal and then double-click a text file in
nautilus/archive manager gives a second instance.
 * double-click a text file in nautilus/archive manager and then starting gedit
from dash/terminal gives a second instance (not from launcher, though, which
switches to the first instance correctly).

[Bug 777292] [NEW] Gedit not single instance when started from unity

2011-05-04 Thread Stefan Löffler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Normally, gedit is a single instance application, meaning that it is
started only once, and subsequent invocations are merged into the
already running instance.

When starting gedit from unity (either via dash, or via Alt+F2) and
later from somewhere else (I tested opening a file in nautilus, opening
a file from the archive manager, and running from the command line),
gedit is started a second time.
