[Bug 75303] Re: [edgy] Crashes
There won't be a backtrace: totem prints this on stderr: The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 48 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) However, starting totem with --sync doesn't help as totem complains like this: Option '--sync' is unknown and was ignored Not pretty useful, heh? -- [edgy] Crashes https://launchpad.net/bugs/75303 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Well it's quite easy. You need to have two Jabber accounts having different default conference servers: jabber.org and google talk both use conference.jabber.org, but you can try jabber.belnet.be (they seem to have their own conference server). The you do this: 1. Open the Buddy List Window 2. Main Menu: Click on Buddies - Enter Chat 3. Select one of your jabber accounts 4. Take a look at the entered conference server 5. [Bug 72318] Doesn't update conference server
Public bug reported: When I want to start a jabber chat and I don't want to use the first registered jabber account, switching the conference server to the default from the second one is very tricky. Eg. my default server is conference.somedomain.com. When I change the account to my googlemail one, the server remains. When I switch to an IRC account and then back to the googlemail jabber account the default server switches to conference.jabber.org. [Bug 66385] Re: Gaim pops up many popups for the same error
Honestly, I don't want to think about what kind of error this is. I either expect one of these two behaviors: 1. As long as the dialog is open (which might be required for debugging or getting support), gaim doesn't try to automatically connect (as there is a connect button that doesn't even get insensitive if the second connection attempt succeeds). 2. If a second error occurs (on the same account), add it (together with a timestamp) to the dialog; well, at least if the error is different. Reason: I don't want to think in terms of connections (in which case you're absolutely right); I just think about accounts - the core question of IM is whether or not an account is online, not how many connections failed. ** Changed in: gaim (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected = Unconfirmed -- Gaim pops up many popups for the same error https://launchpad.net/bugs/66385 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I cannot agree here. The solution that you explain here is a workaround, but I consider needing to fix this problem manually still a bug in Ubuntu. -- Dapper Sound System broken by plugging in a Webcam https://launchpad.net/bugs/48377 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 48811] Re: missing debuginfo
libwnck has got some serious issues (because it's not used a lot in software other than the wnck applets). [Bug 48377] Dapper Sound System broken by plugging in a Webcam
Public bug reported: I bought a webcam some time ago, now I attached it to my computer and it works fine. But there's a really big problem for me right now. As both the webcam and the sound card of the computer are accessed by alsa, I have two alsa devices: hw:0 and hw:1 Unfortunately the assignment of these devices seems to change with every reboot (I didn't check this behaviour, but I have the feeling that one day it works and one day it doesn't). So, please provide a solution for a) keeping the sequence of detetion the same with every reboot b) provide a way to specify the alsa device for the gstreamer alsa sink by something different than the hw:0 name ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Severity: Major Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed -- Dapper Sound System broken by plugging in a Webcam https://launchpad.net/bugs/48377 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
