[Bug 70648] Re: GIMP color chooser sliders have rendering artifacts

2008-09-23 Thread Sven Herzberg
I don't run Intrepid. I need my computers for daily work; I can't run a
potentially unstable distribution.

But feel free to attach a screenshot and we'll see.

Don't you see the remainder of the regular GtkRange appearance at the
beginning and the end of the range selectors (H, S and V for instance).

The artifacts are still there...

[Bug 187203] [NEW] Backport fix for 477175 from 2.16.6 to gutsy

2008-01-29 Thread Sven Herzberg
Public bug reported:

From the release notes from 2.16.6:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gtk+/2.12/gtk+-2.12.6.news

» 477175 gtk_tree_view_set_cursor doesn't scroll the treeview corr...«

This is really ugly in several applications where editable cells are
being jumped to. I experienced this both with the todo-list application
that I wrote and with another application from Ubuntu (I think it was
the baobab disk space analyser, but I'm not sure).

[Bug 89660] Re: control-cursor-key regression in vim

2007-08-27 Thread Sven Herzberg
In the GNOME bugzilla someone reported that vte 0.16.8 made things
working again. I built some packages from gutsy's sources (don't try to
install the packages from gusty, it won't work).

You can fetch the packages from:
http://blaubeermuffin.de/vte-fix-for-ubuntu/

So, I can confirm that these packages fix the problems for feisty and I
propose (request) that these packages get backported to feisty to fix
this really annoying regression.

Here's another description for you:

[Bug 79399] RACE CONDITION: loading initial page Ubuntu Help Centre

2007-01-15 Thread Sven Herzberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I'm using bookmarks in Yelp to link to several manuals I look up things
frequently with (eg. one being the DocBook Book).

0. Open a Yelp window
1. Make sure you have a bookmark in your bookmarks menu
2. Close all Yelp windows
3. Press F1 in your desktop
4. Once the window appears, open the bookmark menu and load your bookmark
5. You'll see your bookmark in the window
6. A moment later (looks like loading Ubuntu Help Centre is finished then),
the page disappears and Ubuntu Help Centre appears

correct? should I file another bug about that typo?) once a different

[Bug 75303] Re: [edgy] Crashes

2006-12-12 Thread Sven Herzberg
There won't be a backtrace: totem prints this on stderr:

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 48 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

However, starting totem with --sync doesn't help as totem complains like this:
Option '--sync' is unknown and was ignored

Not pretty useful, heh?

Well it's quite easy. You need to have two Jabber accounts having
different default conference servers: jabber.org and google talk both
use conference.jabber.org, but you can try jabber.belnet.be (they seem
to have their own conference server).

The you do this:
1. Open the Buddy List Window
2. Main Menu: Click on Buddies - Enter Chat
3. Select one of your jabber accounts
4. Take a look at the entered conference server
5. Select the other Jabber account
6. The conference server is still the same
7. Select an ICQ/IRC/etc. Account and the second jabber account again

[Bug 72318] Doesn't update conference server

2006-11-18 Thread Sven Herzberg
Public bug reported:

When I want to start a jabber chat and I don't want to use the first
registered jabber account, switching the conference server to the
default from the second one is very tricky.

Eg. my default server is conference.somedomain.com. When I change the
account to my googlemail one, the server remains. When I switch to an
IRC account and then back to the googlemail jabber account the default
server switches to conference.jabber.org.

Proposed solution: As this might be considered a feature, not a bug,
the GtkEntry should be replaced by a GtkComboBoxEntry with the default
servers so one can easily switch.

[Bug 66385] Re: Gaim pops up many popups for the same error

2006-10-17 Thread Sven Herzberg
Honestly, I don't want to think about what kind of error this is. I
either expect one of these two behaviors:

1. As long as the dialog is open (which might be required for debugging
or getting support), gaim doesn't try to automatically connect (as there
is a connect button that doesn't even get insensitive if the second
connection attempt succeeds).

2. If a second error occurs (on the same account), add it (together with
a timestamp) to the dialog; well, at least if the error is different.

Reason: I don't want to think in terms of connections (in which case
you're absolutely right); I just think about accounts - the core
question of IM is whether or not an account is online, not how many
connections failed.

[Bug 48377] Dapper Sound System broken by plugging in a Webcam

2006-06-04 Thread Sven Herzberg
Public bug reported:

I bought a webcam some time ago, now I attached it to my computer and it
works fine. But there's a really big problem for me right now.

As both the webcam and the sound card of the computer are accessed by
alsa, I have two alsa devices: hw:0 and hw:1

Unfortunately the assignment of these devices seems to change with every
reboot (I didn't check this behaviour, but I have the feeling that one
day it works and one day it doesn't).

So, please provide a solution for

a) keeping the sequence of detetion the same with every reboot
b) provide a way to specify the alsa device for the gstreamer alsa sink by
something different than the hw:0 name
